Description

Publisher's description:
Workaholic attorney Samantha Sweeting has just done the unthinkable. She's made a mistake so huge, it'll wreck any chance of a partnership. Going into utter meltdown, she walks out of her London office, gets on a train, and ends up in the middle of nowhere. Asking for directions at a big, beautiful house, she's mistaken for an interviewee and finds herself being offered a job as housekeeper. Her employers have no idea they've hired a lawyer-and Samantha has no idea how to work the oven. She can't sew on a button, bake a potato, or get the #@%# ironing board to open. How she takes a deep breath and begins to cope-and finds love-is a story as delicious as the bread she learns to bake. But will her old life ever catch up with her? And if it does…will she want it back?

I purchased this because of my love of Sophie Kinsella novels but it took me a few tries to get into reading this one. If you're having the same troubles, stick with it! I ended up really enjoying it and laughing the whole way through. Though I like other Sophie Kinsella books more, I still think this one is worth the read.

I love all of Sophie Kinsella books. I bought this book and read it. It was a fun read and was cutesy. I recommend it as a light summer read on the beach. I have re-read it a few times and I still like this book.

I read the Undomestic Goddess when it came out a couple of summers ago. It’s a great light summer read that isn’t overly serious. I didn’t find it as good as Sophie Kinsella’s other books, but still worth reading. It was rather predictable, but really funny at parts, which would keep me reading. Yes, I’d recommend this book to other female readers.

Unfortunately this doesn't live up to the Shopoholic series, but being a huge Sohie Kinsella fan, it was a must read for me.

I have to agree with the others here and say this wasn't up to her usual standards, but it WAS a good book, and totally worth reading, and re-reading. I've read it once, I can see myself reading it again in the future.

The book was predictable, but also pretty satisfying (think power house of a woman getting her own back against the corporate mans world).

I would definately recommend this book.

I really liked the book. I usually stick to more dramatic hitting novels but every so often like a nice light read. And this satisfied my urge. I really like Sophie's books and wasn't dissappointed with this one. Yes it was a little unreliastic, but the reason I like to read these types of books is to escape reality for just a bit. I found Samantha to be the opposite of her previous character Becky, as she is smart and gutsy and makes her easy to root for. It's a nice light romance with a dash of humour.

I agree with the other reviewers. Although this was a fun, light read that I couldn't put down it definitely was quite unrealistic. It's a pretty funny story and not at all to be taken seriously. I would never recommend this one as a book club read!

Not as great as some of her other books, but a nice read overall.

As a die-hard Sophie Kinsella fan, I had to read this. Every time I pick up one of her books, I hold my breath in anticipation that this - yes maybe this - book will meet my beloved Shopaholic standard.

This book did not. However, it is a fun light read that I enjoyed when I relaxed my prerequisite. Will anything come close to "Confessions of a Shopaholic" in the chicklit genre? Hard to say. Read this without prejudice and you will enjoy it.
