Helps my dog with fireworks phobia
When we adopted Jesse he came with a phobia of fireworks. Didn't realize this until Canada Day when the poor boy was trying to find a hiding place behind the couch or get in the smallest of places to shelter. Before the next fireworks holiday, I bought him a Thundershirt. The difference was remarkable. He was still a bit wary of the noise but with lots of calm talking to him, he laid on the bed beside me and wasn't frightened. You do have to put on the Thundershirt well in advance of the fireworks. This is difficult to do with thunderstorms but if you know the weather will be bad, it wouldn't hurt to put it on.
Not meant for dogs with anxiety disorders
The Thundershirt is something someone who sews could easily make themselves. Attach velcro to store-bought dog clothes and you have a Thundershirt.
My dog is on Prozac for her anxiety- this does not work for dogs living with anxiety. Maybe a better product for dogs with isolated fears and anxieties (like fear of thunder)
Thunder shirt
We got a rescue pit and he has high anxiety and fears. We went out and bought the thunder shirt for him and it was ok. He was a little better w his anxiety.
It really works
I have two small dogs who get upset with loud noises, especially during storms. This anxiety shirt works beautifully to reduce barking and shaking. It even helps when strangers come in the house which always sets my dogs off.
