I was skeptical about pre-washing my hair with conditioner and I can't believe I like it. I love the silky texture and how lightweight my hair is after washing my hair. I have fine hair and this product definitely boosts my hair volume after use
I like this product. I typically like the way my hair feels after using conditioner last, but I find this makes my hair feel really nice. It does feel lighter and that's a bonus for me. Plus it smells nice, which is always a good thing.
I'm not sure if I like the idea of pre-washing my hair with the conditioner followed by the shampoo. I like the feeling of my hair when I follow the traditional steps of hair washing (i.e. shampoo then conditioner) because the conditioner would make my hair feels nice and smooth after washing. However, this conditioner does not provide that nice smooth feeling because the smooth feeling would later be washed off by the shampoo. Additionally, because the conditioner does not lather well in the first place compared to shampoo, I had to use a lot more conditioner than 1) the amount of conditioner I would normally use after shampoo and 2) the amount of shampoo I would normally use for my first wash.
This goes against everything I know about hairwashing and honestly makes no sense to me ! I've always refused to even use 2 in 1 shampoo & conditioners, because I beIieve the convenience is not worth ruinning the way your hair shaft opens/closes. I've seen this pre-wash conditioning idea in magazines as a way to induce volume, but I personally never felt that it did that to my hair after my shower
This whole "pre-poo" (pre shampoo) conditioner concept may seem new because we don't see other brands in stores having a product like this but a lot women have been using conditioner on their hair before shampooing for decades . I know because I have, and hair forums people have do the same for a long time.
I like that this pre wash conditioner is in a pump bottle , so it makes it a bit easier to use. I love the scent . It's not overpowering but it 's a nice amount of scent. The conditioner is a medium thickness, I usually like thicker conditioners. I have thick hair and my hair never has issue with volume so I didn't notice a difference using this. It would be better for someone with limp hair. I love other TRESemme conditioners and this costs a little more for 16.5 oz and I usually get the other varieties in 32 oz bottle so this one is not a great deal for me.
Received a sample of this in the mail to try. I was quite excited as I have heard many things about this "Co-washing". Let me tell you this was NOT for anyone with fine hair. After doing this with the shampoo being the last step I could not get a brush through my hair. I actually pulled a lot out just trying to brush my wet hair. I wanted to go back and rewash but at the same time I wanted to get my hair dry and then styled to see if there was something to this reverse system. You would think having such a hard time brushing my hair that it would be dry and flyaway. Not the case. I was weighted down and greasy. This backwards system is not for me.
I had been seeing a lot about reverse washing or co-washing, but had not gotten around to trying it. I was happy to receive single use sample packs of TREsemme pre-wash conditioner and Shampoo, as part of their #VolumeRevolution campaign.
So you start by conditioning your hair. This seems somehow counter-intuitive, but I'll try anything once. The conditioner is quite thick, but spreads evenly to cover your full head. It has a nice light scent. You use it as you
Would any conditioner, apply, let it sit, then rinse. Rinsed easily without too much concern on my end of leaving any in, as I knew I was following with a shampoo.
The shampoo had the same nice scent, and worked easily into a nice thick lather. I got the impression it was doing a great cleaning job. The shampoo also rinsed easily.
I did nothing different than I ordinarily would. Combed my hair, with a wide bristle comb, and went about my day. I had all but forgotten about it, when my son said, wow, what did you do with your hair? I looked in the mirror, and sure enough, my hair had a lot more volume, and less flyaway so. It felt thicker, and looked great. The volume was still there the next morning, and my ponytail was a lot healthier looking than usual. All told, the volume lasted three days, when I once again washed my hair.
I will definitely be buying this when my existing products run out. I don't know the price point yet,
Just a note, I am posting this same review for the conditioner and shampoo, because I think they are meant to be used together. You will see the reviews broken down within the review , but I am not sure you would have the same effect if you were to mix products.
First I started with the Beauty-Full Volume Pre-Wash Conditioner, which is formulated to bind the cuticle and protect the hair during washing. I applied the conditioner to my hair and left it in while I continued with my regular shower routine so it had a chance to really soften my hair. It smells great, like most TRESemmé products it’s never overwhelming. It’s formulated with a combination of Fleximax Volumizers and Fibre Polishing Actives, which is basically just some fancy science to give your hair bounce and mega softness.
The instructions say to apply 2–3 pumps (for medium length hair) to wet hair, distribute evenly, leave it for one minute, then rinse thoroughly.
My hair was dirtier than usual so I needed a few extra pumps.
I worked the conditioner in my hair from roots to tips.
Left it in for about a minute and thoroughly rinsed my hair.
There was a slight scent and I was impressed how easily this product rinsed out.
I also liked that it was packaged in a pump bottle.
The Beauty-Full Volume collection changes the way we wash our hair. The Pre-Wash Conditioner - as its name states - is to be used before the shampoo. And it makes sense, conditioners can flatten or weigh down your hair; by reversing steps, we avoid that.
We tried the Pre-Wash Conditioner and we actually liked it. Its not too creamy and rinces out easily, which is great for our morning routine. It has a nice smell to it, we can't really determine what it smells, but it's nice. Only thing, it tends to stick.
Even on "flat" hair, we noticed a little volume, but not incredibly. We didn't take the time to do a full blow-out with the Beauty-Full styling products though. Hair was smooth and flexible, less "heavy". We would probably buy it again, but would try different products before.
