Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella Reviews
#995 in Books

Description

Publisher's description:

When the spirit of Lara's great-aunt Sadie-a feisty, demanding girl with firm ideas about fashion, love, and the right way to dance-mysteriously appears, she has one last request: Lara must find a missing necklace that had been in Sadie's possession for more than seventy-five years, and Sadie cannot rest without it. Lara, on the other hand, has a number of ongoing distractions. Her best friend and business partner has run off to Goa, her start-up company is floundering, and she's just been dumped by the "perfect" man.

Sadie, however, could care less.

Lara and Sadie make a hilarious sparring duo, and at first it seems as though they have nothing in common. But as the mission to find Sadie's necklace leads to intrigue and a new romance for Lara, these very different "twenties" girls learn some surprising truths from each other along the way.

I absolutely enjoyed reading this book. A deliciously funny story that will have you laughing out loud. The two main characters are so endearing that you can’t help but wish that you could join them on their quest to find the elusive dragonfly necklace. If you are drawn to fashion, romance, dancing and the ups and downs of an unlikely friendship then you will savour this delightful journey. I’ve always been intrigued by the era of the stunningly beautiful flappers and this book will give you a taste of the Roaring 20s. I felt sad reading the last page knowing that the amazing adventure was over.

I gave this book full marks because it deserves it. This book is everything 'Sophie Kinsella' - witty, funny, quirky, girly, etc .... on top of all that, this book really made me think. Many parts in the book made me do a double take, as if the Sadie and/or Lara were talking about me. This book is so lighthearted that perhaps the deep insights regarding relationships are missed. If they are missed, its definately worth a second, third, fouth ....read.

This is definately a wonderful, fun, light read, however it also really makes one think.

I am a huge Sophie Kinsella fan and have read all her writings. This book is already a valued part of my collection. I would and do recommend this book to anyone.
