Twilight by Stephenie Meyer Reviews
#4 in Books

Description

Isabella Swan's move to Forks, a small, perpetually rainy town in Washington, could have been the most boring move she ever made. But once she meets the mysterious and alluring Edward Cullen, Isabella's life takes a thrilling and terrifying turn. This is the the 1st book in the Twilight Saga.

Perhaps it just wasn't the style of writing that I enjoy reading, but I found this book to be extremely slow and lacking any sort of writing style. I got about 1/3 of the way through this giant book before I inevitably gave up. I feel a good book shouldn't make you have to 'stick with it until it gets REALLY good'. It should grab you from the very beginning and make you excited just at the thought of being able to have time to read more.

This book left me caring for absolutely none of the characters, with the exception of maybe the Dad whom I felt was unfairly treated by his daughter - the main character. And if you ain't liking the way the main character is treating her dad, it's unlikely that you'll want to keep reading about how sorry she constantly feels for herself. Sure it's about a teenage girl and this is what they're like in real life - always lending a cold shoulder to their parents and always needing more space. But books aren't real life. Especially when they involve torrid love affairs with vampires.

All in all I felt the main character needed a lot more of a back story in order to evoke any true feelings that all readers should experience. I never really understood where she was coming from, why she and her father had such a distant relationship and just all around why she was so bitter. But hey, perhaps this is why it's such a hit with teenage girls - no one understands them and they understand why you shouldn't 'get' the main character of this book in the first place.

I don't mean any offense to anybody who loved this book. We each have our own tastes and I think I may have started reading this book with the wrong expectations. I encourage any teenage girl to read this book as it seems this world is lacking appropriate literature aimed towards that demographic.

An absolute beautiful read.......Good things should never end, and so explains my attraction to book sagas, and so far, this one does not disappoint. If you've heard the hype but haven't checked it out for yourself yet, do yourself a HUGE favour and start at the beginning with Twilight.

    Can't wait for the movie!

I loved this book even though normally I steer away from the whole fantasy realm.

I'm sure my review is old news but i love love love love it. Everyone should read it.
