Just add it to water and add one teaspoon of butter ( optional) and bring it to boil. I also add fresh vegetables. I have also stuffed chicken with it. There are different flavors, but this particular one is a family favorite. It's affordable. It can also be a main dish. I have made it with chicken, mushrooms, and low sodium soya sauce.
