Matte finish - great for oily skin!

I had the opportunity to try Urban Decay Face Bond Waterproof Foundation. Let me start off by saying that I am a light skinned, black woman with combination skin. I don’t often wear a full face of makeup, as I can get oily with foundation on. But I was pleasantly surprised that the Face Bond foundation claim of a “self-setting natural matte finish” really was true. I applied the Face Bond foundation with a sponge for a lighter, more natural application, but it’s easy to build up for fuller coverage. Two big pluses - I can confirm that this foundation is waterproof, and that the no mess dropper is super easy to use and distributes just the right amount where you need it. The shade I sampled was “22 Medium Neutral”.

Eager to try this foundation by Urban Decay after reading the benefits, it's a FOUNDATION + SERUM + SETTING POWDER.

My skin tone is a little complicated, somewhere between cool and neutral, fair and light, so most times I mix shades.

I was concerned the color might be too dark when looking at it through the container. I tested it on my wrist, which is the best place to find a color match in the real world, and it was close, "Phew."
A couple of discoveries by testing it first were that I didn't need a lot for coverage and that I needed to use it quickly because it dries fast and then it can get cakey.

Applying a few drops in the key facial focal points, I used my fingers to blend out and then a sponge to set.

One application was enough coverage for me for a natural look, but if I was planning on a more sophisticated event or evening look, I'd apply another thin layer.

The foundation made my color uniform and a blank canvas to apply my other products.

100% I didn't have the need to use a powder, it set perfectly.

As the day went on I could feel I was wearing foundation. I'd prefer it to have a little more moisture in it. After a few hours, I could see the drier parts of my skin highlighted and it sat cradling the larger pores on my chin.

I have combination skin and I wasn't expecting the foundation to change, especially so quickly since it went on so beautifully and looked nice and it's supposed to last up to 24 hours.

I recommend this for people with oily or normal skin types. If your skin has any dryness, extra pre-prep with a moisturizing cream because even though I had issues it has a great photo finish for selfies!

Lasted all day- perfect for oily skin

I loved trying out this foundation. It’s matte, but still slightly glowy. It lasted all day for me, with minimal transfer. I definitely had to exfoliate my skin beforehand for a more even canvas because I was slightly dry, but I’m sure this foundation would work wonders for someone who tends to be a bit oily.
I was gifted this shade in 4C. It is definitely a bit yellow toned, but blends out well.

Very lightweight

If you are looking for a lightweight, buildable skin tint- this is a fantastic option. It does not provide maximum coverage but it layers nicely and just adds that little extra to your skin. It does not contain SPF.

Lightweight and innovative applicator

I love the dropper for application because it doesn't create a big mess and you can apply it to the specific spot you want the foundation to on. I found you have to blend in the foundation quickly because it does dries faster than other formulas I've used but using a beauty blender helps with this a little bit. The setting powder infused in this foundation saved me a step in my makeup routine and I love how lightweight the foundation is but the foundation did set into my fine lines and they were a bit more visible after long term wear. I wore this foundation to the gym and I love the matte finish aspect, I was sweating but the foundation stayed in tact and my skin didn't appear oily, which it usually does after a workout. Lastly, the cool, neutral and warm tone shades are great when it comes to finding your perfect shade match, I'm cool toned and the foundation I got matched me perfectly.

Perfect foundation for my skin type

I've heard mixed things about this foundation but it honestly worked perfectly for my skin type. I have combo oily skin on my T zone and it really lasted all day long. I'm also a huge fan of the packaging. Light and easy for travel with the squeeze tube.

Self-setting and Lasts Without Feeling Cakey

I liked how compact the packaging was! Secondly, I REALLY liked the idea of a foundation that was self-setting, but I had seen so many reviews that people found this foundation drying. I have not had a lot of time to test this foundation out so I will have a full blog review in a week or two, but what I WILL say is that you do need to do some good skin prep before and that depending on your sunscreen/moisturizer, this foundation will pill. I did feel that this foundation held up well over the day and gave truly weightless coverage to the point where I forgot I had it on! I also really liked the super precise applicator that just kept everything neat and tidy!

would be ideal for people with oily skin

i love urban decay and was super excited to try this- it’s a self setting skin tint so it feels very drying on the skin. i have normal to combination skin so i feel this would work better on oily skins. however it still looked good, i think from me applying cream products over it made it start to separate but i will try it again with powder products

Sweat Proof Truth

This is officially my summer staple. It’s definitely my dream come true because my combination to oily skin sweats terribly through my makeup in the heat and it’s a mess. I’ve been trying to play around with my make up routine to figure out a solid sweat proof face and I’m so happy this dropped. It feels very lightweight on my skin and gives a medium buildable coverage. I’ve been loving skincare based makeup and this one has 3% niacinamide serum. In hot, humid weather I always try to use less products to avoid that cakey face that ends up melting. I literally sweat through my make up which always ends up separating it especially when I set my face with powders. I’m so excited that this foundation is self-setting and there’s no powder needed. I wore it for a few hours while creating content and I was sweating mad crazy. The foundation held up so well except for a little bit around my upper lip but because I was creating some lipstick reels and repeatedly wiped around my mouth area. I’m actually quite impressed! I do wish more than 1oz of product was offered, especially for the price . Aside from that, I think the formula is great and I love the no mess dropper which is great to toss in your bag for on the go.
