a bit tricky as iced coffee
tried these van houtte caramel vanilla brew-over-ice k-cups this weekend! don’t think i’ve got the hang of the iced coffee beat — maybe because my coffee maker doesn’t have an over-ice setting specifically — as it was too watery for my liking. but the k-cups smell amazing as they brew, and i’ve taken to them for regular hot coffee instead! 🤷🏻♀️ can’t really complain! ☕️💕
Not for me.
I received this free to test. I was very excited for this as I've never made iced coffee at home. I really wanted to love it but brewing hot over ice completely melted the ice and even with adding more ice after it melted super fast still. First sip or two it tasted good but then just tasted extremely watered down. I think maybe if I had a different keurig that had the cold brew option it may have been better but for a regular keurig it just wasn't good.
Weak and Lacks Flavour
I got Van Houtte Brew Over Ice K-Cup Caramel Vanilla for free from #vanhoutte and #butterly in exchange for my honest review. I was rather excited to try this product as I love all things caramel. To try it, I used 235ml of water as this was indicated in the instructions but only half filled the cup with ice. I used a bold setting as it was available on my machine. Unfortunately, I was rather disappointed. While it brewed well and smelled amazing, it didn’t have the strong caramel vanilla flavouring I was expecting. The coffee taste was also rather weak. I might try this hot though in the feature as maybe it will be stronger without the added ice.
Loved that it’s low carb but too bittwr
Upon brewing the coffee, I tried it straight up just to see if I could detect the caramel or vanilla flavours. I definitely could not. All I could taste was how bitter the coffee was. I tried it again after adding only half and half, and I still couldn’t detect the flavour. It wasn’t until I added my own sweetener, stevia in this case, to the beverage that the caramel notes finally came through. I’m glad that the pods aren’t too sugary on their own so I can add my own sweetener to it, but the coffee itself is much too bitter, where a nice smooth brew would’ve worked much better when brewing over ice. If it were a dark roast I would understand the bitterness more, but it’s medium and shouldn’t be so bitter. I will still continue to drink them but I don’t see myself buying them again unfortunately.
Aromatic coffee!
Thanks to #butterly for letting me try these #vanhoutte caramel vanilla kcups. I love a cold coffee- it’s my indulgent treat of the day. I wanted to love these pods as caramel and vanilla are my go to flavours. The coffee was very aromatic but in terms of flavour I thought it was lacking and a bit artificial.
Good for someone who likes it strong
Far too strong for my taste but someone who likes really strong coffee would probably like it. Added tons of creamer to it and stil to strong for my liking.
Melted the ice.
I really wanted to like this since it's the perfect time for iced coffees and I love them. However I brewed following the instructions and when the coffee had finished brewing the ice was completely melted. I did try a second time brewing hot and then putting in the fridge and once it had cooled pouring it over ice and that worked better. The flavour was good but a little weak, admittedly I prefer a strong brew.
Leaves a strong, bitter, acidic aftertaste
I got this Van Houtte Brew Over Ice Caramel Vanilla for free from Butterly and I was so excited coz they chose to gave me my favorite flavor. I tried it brewed over ice and i found that the vanilla caramel flavors that i like is there. But i find that it leaves that strong, bitter acidic aftertaste. I tried adding more cream to tone it down but i could still taste it. I am a big "dessert" coffee fan (as people who drinks coffee black call us) and i always try all the different flavors i could find in the store, and the bitterness of this one isn't smooth, due to the acidity. I find van houte a decent coffee brand too, but I might just prefer to have their classic roast than this one.
Great dark cold brew
I enjoyed the drink however i found it very rich in dark flavour thqt i had to use alot of milk to enjoy it. I did howver ended up freezing it and blended milk into it and it was amazing
Good Flavour - A Little Watered Down
I enjoyed the flavour of this coffee, however I found that brewing it over ice did give it a bit of a watered down taste. I added milk, sugar and caramel sauce and it was a decent summer drink.
