Yummy, calories a bit high, but good.
If you’re looking for a way to get a little more protein (and a small bit of fibre) in your diet, but prefer candy to healthy food, this is a good way to get it. It also makes a pretty decent switch out. That’s because calorie-wise, it’s not the best. For a small bar of 45g it has 190 calories, so pretty much like a chocolate bar. So for that reason, it’s not the best for those on a calorie-controlled diet, but if you’re looking to switch chocolate bars to something with more health benefits, this is a good option!
It also tastes quite a lot like a candy bar. The chocolate flavour is definitely leaning on the side of ‘dark’, but it’s not bitter and the peanuts are nice and crunchy. The peanut filling adds a lot of sweetness and it ends up tasting pretty similar to a Butterfinger, but adding the benefit of protein and fibre into the mix. The sugar and carbs aren’t massively high either, coming in at 11g of sugar in 20G of carbs, about the right size for a diabatec snack (or a tick over, depending on how strict you are).
Overall, it’s a good option for a treat, that tastes yummy and candy-like, while still giving you some benefits over a chocolate bar. Simply because of the calories I wouldn’t use this as my main Protein Bar source, but I’d definitely eat it again. If you’re a fan of peanut candy bars, you’ll like this!
