I have been using Venus razors for as long as I can remember and when I was given a chance to try the Venus Swirl Razor from another website, I was overjoyed!
Although I liked the grip and the feel of the razor, as well as the close shave that it gave me, I was less sold on the Flexiball technology. Unlike the male version of this razor, I did not find that the new technology was as good as it was meant to be. I can't quite explain, but the razor did not really "move along" with the curves of my legs (especially around the knees) and I had to press harder on the razor in order for it to do so (something that I am hesitant of since it can cause cuts and razor burn).
Although I give Venus a thumbs up for trying, I will stick to the other versions of Venus which are cheaper and just as effective without all the bells and whistles ( i.e. Flexiball technology).
I like the vibrant purple, easy-to-grip, non-slip handle. I think the 5 Contour razor blades give a superior shave, but I’m not sure that I’m completely sold on the ‘Flexiball technology’. The razor did pivot and contour nicely over all the tricky areas (knees and ankles) and my legs were certainly silky smooth and stubble-free after. There was no pulling or scraping, or nics and cuts, no razor burn. The MoistureGlide Serum works nicely too.... in fact, I can comfortably shave with just the razor and serum alone. I’m just not sure that all of this was the result of the Flexiball. And...this razor, and the replacement cartridges are pricier than their competition. Because I can achieve comparable results for less money without the Flexiball, I probably wouldn’t buy this product on a regular basis. If I came across a good sale, then yes. Otherwise…I’m probably going give the ‘Flexiball technology’ a pass. Recommended: Yes…when on sale
I received a free Venus Swirl razor with flexiball technology from BzzAgent, in exchange for an honest review.
I tried out the Venus Swirl razor along with the Venus Swirl Touch of Olay shave gel.
Razor: I liked the feel and the handling of the razor. It has a soft silicone non-slip grip and it features a ball so that the razor pivots over all the contours of the legs. It shaved nicely with no nicks or cuts and most importantly it goes over the knees. Most times with other razors I go over my knees but when I am out of the shower I see that I've missed the knees.
Shave Gel: the gel dispenses nicely. It doesn't come out too fast and gives a nice lather. It has a "touch of Olay" that does leave a nice softness but it's not enough that you don't need to moisturize too.
All this being said - the price of the replacement blades would make me not buy this product on a regular basis. If I had a coupon or a good sale, maybe. It is $24 for 4 replacement blades at my local big box retailer.
