Great Frying pan, very even heat distribution.
I was hesitant to use a stainless steel pan as in the past, I found them very hard to clean. This one was great! The food cooked very evenly with good heat distribution and the pan cleaned easily afterwards. I also loved that the handle didn't get hot at all.
Good stainless steel pan
Pros: Love how this type of pan can go in the oven & is nontoxic. It was also a pleasant surprise that the handle stayed cool to touch on my gas stovetop. This pan had good heat distribution, thanks to its triple metal layer design. It can also go in the dishwasher - it cleaned very well and was spotless even after charring steaks on it!
Cons: If used properly (heat pan & oil prior to use) - it does NOT stick. However when cooking dumplings, it did require a bit more oil to prevent burning than I personally prefer. For high moisture foods like veggies & meat I had no concerns and used the same amount of oil as usual.
Summary: This pan is like a cast iron in terms of versatility. Depending on what you're cooking it may be slightly higher stick/oil demanding. However unlike other pans, it doesn't require maintenance or have residue buildup concerns. So far I've cooked steak, veggies, pasta, fish, & curry in this pan, and the sticking concerns aren't as bad as I thought it would be. Vida by Paderno beat my expectations!
Vids frying pan does the job
I tried this new clad frying pan to sauté vegetables for a spaghetti sauce. I found the pan was a bit hot and had to turn it down to simmer . Not a bad thing. The pan cleaned up nicely in the sink, however there are now dark marks on the outside bottom of the pan that would not come off. I have been using Paderno pots and pans for more than 35 years and never had one stain so quickly. The pan is quite lightweight, does the job it is designed for quite well. The inside cleaned up nicely. If you don’t mind a bit of staining on the bottom this is a good pan.
Easy to use but not for beginners
It's fast in heating up the pan, but the drawback is that sometimes food may easily stick since it's made in stainless steel. The difference between this pan and non-stick pan is the food texture and aroma. It really gave me a crispy and crusty effect on the meat! For beginners, it may be a bit difficult to control, but make sure that it's hot enough before adding oil/ food.
Great Frypan
I was selected to try the Vida Paderno Stainless Steel Clad Frypan (28cm/ 11 inch) and really enjoyed trying it out. My first observations were the pan is quite sturdy, great surface area of cooking space, nice to have rolled edges and the handle was easy to hold. I have prepared a few things in this pan and I have to say it does cook food pretty evenly which is a great bonus when cooking quite a few eggs at the same time and the rolled edges made it easier to pour from the pan with less mess. I ensured I used oil to cook and I really didn't have issues with sticking. The size of this pan is also great for making family sized meals. Another thing that I love about this pan is you can stick it in the oven up to 500 degrees which is great for making small pizza and breads in the oven. Overall this is a great addition to your kitchen!
Nice even cooking
This pan was something different for us. We typically use cast iron or non-stick coated. Followed the instructions as prescribed and this pan was great. It seemed to heat up a bit slower than the thinner aluminum pans we are accustomed to but it heated up evenly. We tried cooking some chopped up chicken in it first. Chicken cooked all the way out to the edge of the pan and didn't require constant stirring and agitating to ensure it all was cooked properly. The nice part with this pan as it seems a tad more resistant to the warping issues thinner aluminum pans suffer from so I was able to cook the chicken on a higher temp. We used a generous layer of oil in the bottom of the pan so nothing stuck to the pan. When we were done, cleaning was easy. A nice wipe with some warm soapy water seemed to get everything out. Tried eggs next. Again used a good layer of oil in the pan. Pan heated up nicely. Eggs took only a few minutes to cook to desired level. I'll admit the eggs did stick a bit but that is more than likely my fault for having the pan temperature a little too high. Even though there was a little egg stuck in the pan, once it cooled down I gave it a wash in warm soapy water and everything came right out. So far this pan has been great for us. Delivering consistent temps across the cooking surfacing, not warping and easy clean up. I would definitely buy more of these pans in other sizes. Thanks Paderno!
