Not What I Expected
Let's start with the positive. The pan looks and feels to be quite durable. It's solid and has a good weight to it.
The negative: For my trial cooking, I decided on eggs. I used oil while eating (which I don't normally use with my other pans). Unfortunately, half my eggs stuck to the pan. What was even worse, was that I could not scrub it off. Food was not burnt, so I don't understand what could have gone wrong. I still have my original steel pan from nearly 30 years ago and it still looks amazing. If this pan required way more oil than what I used, then I can't see this pan being good for healthy meals.
Horrible
Horrible… all my egg were still attached to the pan. Do not like it. It’s really not what I m waiting with a pan sorry maybe I prefer Teflon is easier to wash
Ok, but not great.
I am all for a frying pan that doesn't have that nasty teflon coating on it, and this one does not. However - I do like to clean my cookware with vinegar only. This pan would not clean with just vinegar. We soaked it three times. I had to use a cream cleanser to get it back to shiny. The pan was preheated prior to adding oil and we still experienced overheating in the middle of the pan. We have an induction stove top so maybe that was the issue. Overall, I would probably not buy this pan.
Willing to try again!
While Paderno makes a huge deal about their “made in Canada” products, unfortunately this one is nothing to write home about. While the packaging DOES explain how to clean it, it has 0 information about the proper use of the stainless steel pan. So after googling it, I ensured the pan and the oil was very hot before dropping in a couple of eggs. 🍳 Almost immediately, they started to stick. I held onto the hope that they would un-stick once the bottom “cooked” (not unlike grills) and was wrong. 👎🏻 I had to scrape all the eggs whites off the pan and breakfast was promptly ruined.
Having said that, I KNOW stainless steel pans are more difficult to cook with than traditional non-sticks pans (ie “TFal” or “The Rock” pans) and cast iron. So I am definitely willing to try again and hopefully it will work better with some better protein like 🥩 meat or fish.
Vida
The cookware heats up really fast causing anything within to cook as quickly. The handle does isolate heat a pleasant surprise. It does get hot in the oven. No issues in the dishwasher. It could have used a cover.
Disappointing
While the size & weight of the pan is great for everyday cooking, unfortunately the heat does not distribute evenly on the pan thereby food will be cooked unevenly. I also noticed that the pan is prone to food sticking so it requires adding a bit more oil.
Not my first choice
I followed all the instructions given to prevent food from sticking and it still did. I had to be constantly adding water to keep it off the bottom. I did not like how it also stained after one use. They said it could happen but didn’t think on the first try. Overall it cooked the food ok but the sticking and dirty looking staining are not for me.
Food sticks to this pan
This pan is a convenient size. It warms up quickly and cooks well at a lower temperature than my other pans. However food sticks to the bottom of the pan even after preheating the oil. It is difficult to clean off the stuck on food, and after cleaning there are permanent stains left in the pan, even after just one use.
