Surprising fast grocery home delivery service by Voila!
As part of the Product Review Club, I was selected by Voila by Sobeys to try their recently-launched grocery delivery service.
The Voila by Sobeys website is easy to navigate and register on. The grocery products were easy to search and the images of the products were clear and helpful. There is a clearly marked ‘on sale’ section. Some items were not available - out-of stock, I assume - but this was clearly communicated on the site.
Most items were comparable in pricing to other grocery delivery services. The delivery fee is $7.99 and there are no other, hidden fees.
I placed my grocery order on a Friday and received my order exactly when I wanted - in the time frame that I chose. I received a telephone call from the delivery service stating an arrival in fifteen minutes from the telephone call. All items were received as ordered and were carefully bagged and delivered in a safe, convenient and friendly manner by the delivery person.
I would recommend the service. I would like to see a reduction in the delivery fee to be competitive with other, similar services.
Place your order and Voilà, it'll be at your doorstep.
As a part of a campaign, I received a discount to try Voilà by Sobeys. Voilà is a grocery delivery service which delivers directly from the warehouse to your house. So no store inbetween or going to the store to pick up the order. The website is very easy to navigate, various departments are well organized and setting up an account is simple. Once you've filled your cart, you pick the date and time window ( a 1hour window) you would like, fill in payment details and place the order. Confirmation email with all details is sent to the email address on the account immediately. There is a fee of 7.99 to avail this service, which personally I think is too much and this would not be something that I would use regularly. i picked the time window of 4-5 pm. I received another email in the early afternoon confirming my order being picked and no out of stock items. I received a call around 3:30 to ensure I was expecting an order and letting me know that it would be delivered soon. I didn't expect the ladies would show up at 4pm but they did. They parked and called again to make sure they were off loading the groceries as per my preference. They were really lovely and polite, were professional and following the social distancing recommendations and wearing masks and gloves too. Once all bags were off loaded, one of them took the time to explain the whole process to make sure I was aware of everything before I ordered again. That was very sweet of her to do. The truck was well equipped and all my groceries were delivered in great condition and temperature controlled. I was surprised at how well the groceries were packed in bags and the condition of each product was great. I would totally recommend this to anyone and everyone. The service was great and the two ladies were wonderful. The only deterrent would be the fee for me,but other than that....I would use it again.
I enjoyed this experience
I received a coupon to try out this service and I enjoyed it over all. I think the products offered are of great quality but are higher priced than my usual groceries, I would probably use this service again in the future if I need a delivery service, but will stick with my normal grocery shopping for now.
great service would use again
since Covid-19 started in March i have not been to any grocery stores and have been like many others in trying out all these new grocery services being offered by many different companies (PC Express, Instacart, CornerShop, etc). i had not heard of voila by sobeys and am not a regular shopper at sobeys since there arent any in my vicinity so thought this would be a great opportunity to try. i was overall very impressed by the quality of all the products selected. there were no substitutions as everything i ordered was available (big surprise) and the dropoff and followup during the process were great. they called to let me know they were close and waited for me to check my groceries before they left. also they come with a big sobeys truck rather than other companies where the deliveries are done by random people in their own vehicles. the delivery was $7.99 and no service fees. this is reasonable enough considering they are saving me time and gas. other companies charge more for this. best part was all the produce was fresh and well selected, i have recieved some pretty bad produce from other companies. will def try again.
Excellent service
I was so happy I was given a discount code to provide honest review on Voila by Sobeys. Sobeys provides many choices and high quality products that cannot be found anywhere else; I was especially glad to find high quality butters that I could never find, which fortunately were on sale at that time!
The delivery was right on time, I scheduled 5-6pm, and the delivery man came at exactly 5pm. He was very nice and explained that he did temperature check on the food. The products were also neatly categorized in different bags. They were not thrifty on the bags, which can be returned to Sobeys to recycle. He also was careful with the eggs, and gave me the bag separately. It was the best grocery delivery service I've ever experienced so far.
Although the service was high quality, the price of the products was quite standard, it was no more expensive than other supermarkets. I would definitely recommend Voila to everyone.
I forgot to mention that the website was a bit all over the place for me, but if you know what you are looking for, it was quite easy. I also feel like they don't have as many choices on meat and vegetables. I recommend Voila for the rare products like European butter and ice cream (they have A LOT of choices, especially for Haagen Dasz, which is usually sold out everywhere), but not so much on the fresh produces.
Pleasantly Surprised
I was selected by #VoilabySobeys to be one of their advocates on their newly launched grocery delivery service. I thought this was great as I have been experiencing difficulties with my normal online grocery service.
The website is easy to register and view all different products - they have products from not only Sobey’s but Farm Boy and another store I didn’t recognize (sorry) and a clearly marked ‘sales’ section. There seemed to be quite a bit of produce out of stock but it told you upfront, which was although disappointing, at least you didn’t order something that wouldn’t arrive - other online grocery stores, you don’t know this until they deliver and you have products missing.
Some products were comparable in pricing, some I thought were high but some were lower. You have to know your pricing. Their delivery fee is $7.99 and no hidden fees.
I placed my order on a Friday and received my delivery the next day and received it within the timeframe I chose....wow. Plus I received everything I ordered!
I’m lactose intolerant and unfortunately the cheese section wasn’t great but that’s not a huge issue. I got what I needed in my timeline and everything was fresh and the biggest green onions I have ever seen - very pleasantly surprised!
Pricey but worth it
I was chosen to take part in the Sobey's Voila Product Review group. I was incentivized through discounts. My experience was mostly positive. The driver that dropped down my groceries were super nice and polite. He called me several times before arriving and made sure that my cold groceries were placed in the truck refrigerator to keep the quality high. Everything arrived on time and in perfect shape. The website was easy to use and navigate for purchases.
However, there are some things to consider if you plan to try the program. First, the driver will not leave groceries to an empty home. Someone must be in the house during the pick-up. Second, not all groceries are available at all times. A lot of my groceries were removed when I selected the date. The website is also pretty new and not many details about the product is given such as the expiry date or what's in it.
Great Service to Your door!
I received a discount of $25 off $100 order and took advantage of it right away to try Voila's home grocery delivery service. From the time I opened Voila's website to the time I received my products at the door I had a great experience. Their website made it fast and easy to pick the products I wanted to buy with a side menu and sub menus categorized as well as a search bar. They also have a vast collection of products to choose from. It is very easy to add and subtract items to the grocery cart and it tallies the price as you go along. I also like that the sale items for the week are posted. I like that there are convenient 1 hour window times for delivery. The driver came to my apartment door in my high rise. I didn't have to go to the lobby. Big convenience for me! He even called and said he was 15 min. away giving me a heads up. When he arrived we went over my order and made sure it was all there. The produce I ordered was super fresh! + +
The cons about this service is I cannot collect Airmiles ordering through Voila. Also I would expect the prices of the products would be somewhat cheaper (comparing to Nofrills and Food Basics etc) since they are being picked from the warehouse and not the store itself.
..other than that:
Over all EXECELLENT service and I definitely WILL order again from Voila and I'll be telling my friends and relatives how fast and friendly and user friendly Voila website and delivery is!
Thank you Voila for a great experience!
Quick next day delivery, everything in stock but expensive.
I got an opportunity to try and review the new Sobeys grocery delivery service- Viola and received a $25 off $100 purchase through ChickAdvisor for this review. The new service sends grocery items from their warehouse, so it included items from various Sobey's stores- FarmBoy, Freshco and their Complements line. This was great because I didn't need to go to different stores for the products I wanted. I ordered things through the website yesterday evening for delivery this morning. The delivery was on time, the person was friendly and everything was extremely fresh, and the cold things were the perfect temperature. I was quite impressed because all the items that needed to be refrigerated were in bags with different coloured handles, and normally things melt a little in my car, so delivery was much better! There were some changes from normal - the person said there could be no returns, and if anything was wrong with the order, the cost of that would be credited to the next purchase, and that they normally take the plastic bags back for recycling during a subsequent order. I am very impressed with the quick service, the fact that everything I wanted was included, no mistakes were made, and how clear the pricing for delivery was ($7.99 showed on each timeslot when picking delivery). The website had pictures for all the things, which was great.
Now for some of the things that weren't as great- the website itself was somewhat frustrating. Searching for an item didn't automatically give me all the results from all the stores on the same page. I had to click on different tabs- Shop Home, or Complements, or FarmBoy or Freshco,or Well.ca and search for the same item multiple times to see the best price. I don't want to waste time trying to search through all the tabs, everything relevant should just come up on the same page regardless since it is all coming from the same warehouse anyway. I did find it hard to navigate and find certain items. I also wish that it was possible to see all the sale items based on the store instead of just on the shop home page. I don't really see the point in having multiple tabs if they don't also allow for the same search options. Additionally, it seems like there is a significantly smaller selection of items available online vs in store. I found the selection of international foods especially limited. Even basic fresh herbs like cilantro were only available in extremely small packs for way more than a regular bunch of cilantro. I did like that there was an option to see things by price and also by comparative price/100 grams, so I didn't need to calculate it myself. I realized that I ordered the wrong size of butter when it was delivered, that was my fault for picking the wrong size, but I wish the font for the product quantity was larger. Other issues included not receiving Airmiles points like I would for buying in store at Sobeys, not being able to use Sobeys gift cards for the transaction, and obviously no price matching like at Freshco.
Overall, this is a good service for quick nextday delivery of basic products. I feel like the $7.99 delivery fee is too high even with the minimum $50 order. I would have expected a lower shipping cost, or a credit towards the next purchase. I can see myself using it if I am returning from a trip and don't want to stop at the store, or if I want to send something to my parents. I don't think I will use it for my usual shopping trips though, because it was too expensive, and I much prefer earning airmiles at Sobeys, or pricematching at Freshco, or picking up fresh bakery products from Farmboy.
Easy to order and excellent delivery service!
I tried the Voila grocery delivery service and it was such an amazing experience! Thankful that I got a discount for $25 off $100 so that I was more inclined to test it out. First of all, I downloaded the app to initially put items in my cart and save things in my favourites. The app was easy to use and everything seamlessly syncs when I finalized my order on my computer. There were so many options to choose from since it was coming from the warehouse instead of the local grocery store. It was also easy to see what items were on sale and quickly compare similar items.
The delivery part was one of my favourites. The delivery driver called me 10 mins before he arrived and told me how the process works. They were so prompt and everything was fresh including my produce. If anything was broken or wrong, they'll take it off your bill. I feel like this delivery service really cares about the quality from start to finish, and I would use this service again and recommend to people I know.
