Twisted product packaging and wording

I was fooled by "NO SUGAR ADDED". Bold and beautiful in yellow and blue packaging. Just below those glowing words are the barely noticeable "sweetened with Sorbitol and Aspartame". For many, like the health-conscious folks in my area, those "chemicals" are deadly. I can't give away an unopened package of Voortman's Vanilla wafers because of the artificial sweeteners. You can do the reading on the health concerns, but avoid the irrational stuff with no scientific foundation. I checked the reviews in ChickAdvisor only to find 99 percent of the opinions based entirely on taste and second on no calories because of no sugar. Wow, no one mentioned anything about artificial sweeteners as if to say, "who cares", or "I didn't notice." Only one person in the six pages of reviews I read mentioned how great the wafers are because he/she is a diabetic and there's no sugar.

I want nothing but real, natural and pure sweeteners like honey, unprocessed cane sugar, or maple syrup. Okay, you've now got calories and the health concerns of eating too much sugar. Now we are entering the blessed human world of growing in self-discipline. Sorbitol and Aspertame give one the illusion that it's okay to binge on sugar-free wafers.

Voortmans know very well there's a major percentage of the human race today who will stay away from artificial sweeteners. That's why they cloak their wafers in a very attractive package with the first bold title: "NO ADDED SUGAR, then hiding as best they can "sweetened with Sorbitol and Aspartame."
