I found this book by Maria Semple to be a bit of a wild ride. Over the top at times, perhaps, but still relatable somehow. Maybe it was just the way 'Bernadette' made me and my neurosis seem mild, almost normal. :) It was fun, it was weird, it was redeeming. If you've got a quirky sensibility, I'd highly recommend it.
