100% OF CHICKS DIG IT
I was very excited to try the Say Yes to Carrots line, and I had especially heard a lot about the C Me Smile Lip Butter. This line is finally sold in Canada (you can find it at Shoppers Drug Mart) and I was so happy! I have to say though, I think my feelings towards this product are a lot like when you hear a great deal about how amazing a movie is, to the point where when you finally see it you expect beyond incredible and just feel so-so and wonder what all the hype was about. That was exactly how I felt about this lip butter. It is a nice lip balm, it does moisturize, and it makes me happy that it is organic. However I think I built it up in my mind to be an amazing product, so when I finally tried it, it was just ok (Obviously mu point, but here are my reasons):
I was not overly impressed by any aspect of it. It moisturizes just as well as most of my other lip balms, it doesn’t smell or taste any better or worse, and it doesn’t make the overall texture and appearance of my lips look any different after use. I tried the Carrot version (I figured hey, if I’m trying Say Yes to CARROTS I may as well try the Carrot one right?) but they also have Berry, Mint, Citrus and Melon. It doesn’t smell like carrot when you sniff it, but it does when it is on your lips. I personally like the smell (it makes me feel healthy, like I just ate a salad or something ha ha) but I can see how it might not appeal to some people.
My only significant complaint is that it actually doesn’t glide on as smoothly as some of my other lip balms (think the texture of Burt’s Bees but not as waxy) which I can only assume can be attributed to the lack of chemicals – after all, its hard to compete with the better-than-perfect silkiness that chemicals can create.
Overall, I think this is a good lip balm and would recommend it. However I don’t think it is anything spectacular.
