Ok, so tried these out this fall for the first time and it was a disaster. I filled two of the large Space Bags with my "summer wardrobe' and stored them in the basement. The bags held a lot of clothes each, and it was easy to use the vacuum hose to suck out all the air. I'd say each bag was about 15-20 pounds, which was a good amount to get out of the closet when I'm not wearing them. I thought this was perfect to store fabric in the basement and not risk them getting a musty smell. My problem was 2 weeks later when I walked past and saw one of the bags sitting there un-sealed. So I dragged the vacuum downstairs and re-sealed it. Weeks later I go down and they're both un-sealed. After a lot of cussing with the vacuum... I could hear a hissing noise. There was a tiny hole in the plastic! So I got out the packing tape and fixed it. But the other bag had hisses and holes everywhere. On close inspection this bag appears to have been sabotaged by that cat that lives in my house. So now the bags are standing upstairs in the corner of the spare room... with no hope of ever being re-sealed b/c there's just too many holes. My problem isn't just that I have a cat though. In all the carrying of the sealed and un-sealed bags up and down my stairs I could feel my fingers and thumbs (not nails) going into the plastic and making rips. So for my use, the plastic is just not thick/durable enough, and I didn't get to use them for even a month.
I purchased multiple sets of these bags
.Only one bag out of 20 stayed inflated and 3 of the bags broke open while in storage.
I am disappointed in the product.
I was given a large size bag to try recently from a friend. My intention was to stuff it full of my son's stuffed animals. I love the idea of these bags for space saving but I was not impressed with the bag itself. I made sure that everything was stuffed below the fill line. I vacuumed out all the air like the instructions said to do so. It was nice watching all the air get sucked out and seeing how much less space this would take. I could fit 6 of these in place of the 1 garbage bag I had full of the stuffies. Within about 10 minutes my bag was not flat anymore. Somehow air got back into the bag and it no longer was flat. I tried multiple times with different amounts of stuffies in it each time. Each and every time I tried, within minutes the air was back in the bag. I assume there was a hole in the bag somewhere from manufacturing it. It was not tampered with in anyway and came from the box it was bought in. Maybe it was just a faulty bag, maybe they all suck. I know I wont be buying them to try just in case.
Maybe I got a bad bag, but I put my comforter in it, went to get my vaccuum and when I turned around, the seal had blown. At first I thought maybe I just forgot to 'zip' it up, but I tried repeatedly and It won't stay closed. I had big plans to clean up my closet with these, but I won't be spending any more money on it. Very disapointing.
Just thought I should add that I went back and tried the bag again. I put a smaller blanket in it, managed to zip it up and suck the air out. It's been holding well up in the closet since September.
I like that the blanket is dust-free, but as far as saving space, it hasn't done much for me. Since I had to reduce the size of the blanket in the bag, it really isn't saving much space at all. But it is keeping the blanket clean, so there's that. Like I said, maybe I got a dud bag.
