American Reviews

What is "American cuisine"?  If you're a born-and-bred North American, you won't recognize your favourite chow for the unique cuisine it is.  Think Surf 'n Turf platters, premium burgers, Southern-style fried chicken and BBQ pork ribs for a start.  Serve 'em up with Californian salads, perfectly seasoned home fries, baked potato and corn on the cob, then follow with good ol' apple pie, triple chocolate brownies, and decadent milkshakes.

Hungry yet?  Yeah, let's order in American tonight!

Two Urban licks

1 review

Trendy, funky, jazzy, urban and tasty. Huge red Chinese lanterns overhead, one wall of glass overlooking the Atlanta skyline with pretty lights at night. Giant rotisserie with a specialty of brisket. Mashed sweet potatoes, watermelon with feta, Jack Daniels ice cream. Yummy...
Philthy McNasty's

They made us pay before anything came to the table. They brought all the beer (draught) to the table at the same time and the waitress never came back to the table once to see how things were.
Hard Rock Cafe

The food was pretty forgettable and the price wasn't worth it. However, the service wasn't bad they didn't rush us and allowed us to chat away even though we were long done eating.
Dunn's Famous Deli

Dunn's Smoked Meat in Montreal is a landmark restaurant. The sandwiches are huge, juicy and fresh. They sides are good too and you can finish the meal with a giant piece of strawberry cheesecake. I used to eat there when I was a CEGEP student. It was terrific.
BLT Steak

Great American Food with plenty of choices. I particularly loved the popovers instead of the typicaly bread basket, at the beginning of the meal! The decor is classic, yet fun... and the service is phenomenal!
Lick's Homeburgers & Ice Cream

I rarely eat fast food, but one place I'll make an exception for is Licks. Their nature burgers are amazing, probably the best veggie burger I've tasted anywhere. I also love their ice cream - definitely not the best I've ever had, but still worth going back for. As well, they...
Morning Star

Despite the shabby truck stop look this place has going on, it's actually a really decent breakfast. Freshly squeezed orange juice, thick texas style french toast, and surprisingly fluffy scrambled eggs. Two people can have a nice breakfast for $20. It seems like a family run...
Sonoma Chicken Coop, Campbell, California

This place is fantastic! It's a quick-serve restaurant, which makes it ideal for large gatherings where everyone is paying for their own meal. They do an incredible mix of ethnicities ranging from italian to asian to classic american and all sorts of other yummy things! You can...
The Works

It might seem a bit pricey for a burger and fries..especially if you have a whole family to feed....but this 'once in a while' treat is sooo worth the money. The best burgers I've EVER tasted by far. The variety is amazing...you can get almost anything on a burger...some are...
Asqew Grill

This place was great. It was fast casual style (they gave you a number and then brought the food to your table). The meat was served on a skewer, and then you could pick what you wanted underneath the meat (a salad, cous cous, etc). It was definitely reasonably priced for lunch...
TGI Friday's

I went to the Friday's in Burlington, Vermont and I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The food was hot, spicy and tasty. I like the loaded potato skins and the chicken. Nice drinks too. It was fun and relaxing. I'd go back again.
Mildred Pierce Restaurant

This is a fantastic place to go to for brunch. The food is DDDDelicious! The menu for brunch is different on Sat and Sun. so you may want to check out their website. Veda's special (like eggs benedict with smoked salmon instead) is great, the burger is the best I have ever...
Planet Hollywood

1 review

Similar to the Hard Rock Cafe, Planet Hollywood starts with a great atmosphere, but with movies, rather than music. Each Planet Hollywood has numerous movie memorabilia donated once a movie is finished. When in New York, my family and I sat behind the Ghost Busters display...
Chances R

Before they re-vamped I would have never set foot in this place! Now, this is one of the better choices eating-wise around the Algonquin College area. The prices, people, and food are great. Although service can be slow at times, it is far better than the Summerhays Grill...

Great food, reasonable prices. Good for families.
Green Valley Grill @ The O. Henry Hotel - Greensboro

1 review

Love it Love it Love it! This upscale restaurant and lounge is located in one of the best hotels in Greensboro, the O.Henry. The decor is typical old south, with dark paneling, columns and brickwork. If there's room you must sit out on the patio and enjoy the warm evening...
Soyka Cafe

1 review

Close to Miami's Midtown and new Design District, Soyka Cafe brings a big city feel to an otherwise developing urban area. Soyka is housed in an unimpressive building, but once you walk inside, it is transformed into an open, airy, loft style restaurant. There are exposed pipes...
Branigan's @ The Forks

1 review

Ok, I know, it's only Branigan's, but here it's all about locationlocationlocation. Great river views off the patio, affordable prices, and yummy food (features ribs, steak and seafood). If you're at The Forks anyway, why not check it out?
Lucky 32 Restaurant

American and southern dishes at this family-friendly restaurant; good prices. Try the fried green tomatoes and deep grits, but don't hold out for low-fat options... southern + lowfat = .... not authentic. The patio is beautiful!
Elgin Street Diner

This is another one of Ottawa's 24 hour diners that I enjoy after a night of bar hopping. It's a great place to sit down with friends, and re-cap the night and settle down before you go home to rest. I've never actually been during the daytime, but I imagine it's a much more...
