Cafes Reviews

A café requires just one thing to win our hearts: truly decadent coffee.  We've come across our fair share of snooty décor, name-dropping baristas, and lack of seating space, but all is forgiven when we're handed our immaculately brewed Americano or Soy Chai Latte - whichever's your preference.  The search for the next must-stop java joint is an urbanista's favourite pastime... and when we can find one that also serves a great lunch, well you had us at Bonjour!

In Toronto, we're partial to The Sandwich Box, Le Gourmand, and Sense Appeal Coffee Roasters.  Which is your favourite?

This cozy little cafe is located in Winnipeg's French district on Provencher Blvd, close to the Forks. The cakes here are delicious and they have a nice selection of specialty coffees and sandwiches. Most of us ordered cake so I can't really vouch for the other menu items...
Lettieri Espresso Bar & Cafe

1 review

Love this place! Lettieri has several locations in Toronto. My favorite is the one near the St. Lawrence Market. The area is charming and my husband and I love to come and sit here on their teeny tiny "patio" (3 tables and two big umbrellas on front street) and sip coffees...

I love this cafe. Beautiful brick and beam interior, fantastic creamy lattes, gelato, gourmet sandwiches and just uber cute. We discovered this little gem in the Soho area at 130 Franklin Street. I believe it was close to the Spring Subway Station. I recommend this for...
The Fyxx Espresso Bar

I've been going to The Fyxx for over 12 years now, and I think it's one of the best places in WInnipeg. The food is made fresh to order, the atmosphere is comfortable and the staff and always friendly and approachable. I've had many first dates at The Fyxx on Albert street! Many...

I finally had a chance to check this place out. I've been hearding about it for a while. This is a new concept cafe (from Coke) located in trendy Yorkville Area on Bloor Street West. It is directly across the street from Williams-Sonoma, Roots and The Body Shop at Bloor and St...
Second Cup

I'm sorta a brewed coffee girl, so i like a good cuppa coffee and I do like Tim Horton's but Second Cup is fine too. I generally find their coffee a bit strongly brewed. they have a decent egg and cheese on an english muffin and the few wraps I've tried are OK. I won't go out...
Bread and Roses Bakery Cafe

This is a little bakery/cafe located in Toronto's Bloor West Village (West End) They have amazing food and their breads and desserts are made fresh daily. This is a great place to grab a "homemade" sandwich, salad, amazing soups, or even perogies (which I would argue are the...
Cafe Angelique

Amazing melt in your mouth croissants, fresh squeezed orange juice, fantastic lattes and heavenly quiche. This little gem was recommended to us by a kind woman who gave us directions when we got lost looking for Greenwich Village. The decor is kitchy with mismatched furniture...
Timothy's World Coffee

To get away from the usual Tim Hortons I enjoy coming here. I really enjoy their beagles and chocolate covered espresso beans. They also have lots of choices to purchase and take home with you, so you can brew your own coffee or teas at home. I enjoy the atmosphere in here-...

Bouchon Bakery

This bakery/restaurant is located in the Time Warner mall in columbus square near central park. It's on the 3rd floor. The pastries are pretty good but a bit pricey. We came here for a quick breakfast before heading out to the MOMA. 2 pastries and 2 lattes was about $14. For...

Java House restaurant

Cheap drinks and food. Specials every day. You have to go through the kitchen to get to the bathroom, which is kinda strange. The sangria is hit or miss. I always get the spicy chicken which is really good, and the hummus is amazing.
The Roastery Coffee House

The Roastery has two locations (8 Pardee and 401 Richmond Street W). I've been to both. The Paradee one is cuter. Seems more like an authentic Italian cafe (pictured), but the one on Richmond Street has free wireless access. Both serve delicious coffee. I'm very picky about my...
Second Cup Coffeehouse

I don't usually enjoy frequenting chain restaurants, but I make an exception for Second Cup on Edmonton in downtown Winnipeg. It has a certain "je ne sais quoi" about it. A nice place to grab a snack on the go or sink into one of their armchairs with a latte macchiato for an...
The Tea Party

My friends and I arrived there at 8.40 pm. The guy told us when we ordered that they run until 9 pm so, if we wanted anything after that time, he would serve it but to go. We all understood he meant if we ordered anything else. The tea cups arrived. They were dirty on the...

The ambiance is very cosy, lots of little corners, and a great patio for the whole 3 months the weather is nice enough to use it! Most of the drinks we've tried have been very good (especially the caramel and cream! it's basically a caramel macciato), but the italian sodas are...
