Curling up with a good book is a favourite year-round pursuit: in front of a blazing fire in January, in the park under a warm May sun, in a hammock lake-side in July or with coffee on the back porch overlooking brilliant fall foliage.

ChickAdvisor members love light reads like the wildly popular Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella or the more introspective romances of Emily GiffinHe's Not That Into You gives us food for thought, and Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series is a guilty little pleasure.

Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close: A Novel

I absolutely loved this book. Jonathan did amazing at putting the story forth from a childs perspective. Really love the different view and perspective of this tragedy. I love all of his novels but so far this is my favorite, I couldn't put it down!
All Families are Psychotic by Douglas Coupland

A great Canadian novel. There are lots of crazy things happening in this book - HIV, robbery, death, and a trip to Walt Disney World - but Douglas Coupland does a great job at capturing the reader in this seemingly fantastical novel about the disastrous and somewhat estranged...
Assassin's Creed Black Flag

This is the sixth book in the Assassin's Creed novel series. It introduces the reader to Edward Kenway, and follows his life story, as he becomes a privateer, then a pirate. It is a must read in the series as it ties tighter with the previous book, and actually happened before...
Bleach, Vol. 29

Gonna try and do my best to do a spoiler light review of this. More trekking through Hueco Mundo, encountering different enemies and having a lot of cool fight scenes that you can't help but note would look amazing in the anime. Even though there's some slower parts with humour...

Wow, this book left my speechless and I so badly wanted to save Gemma (he main character in the book). It kept me on the edge of my seat and I felt like screaming and throwing the book, especially when the book was talking about her capturer.

Longbourn by Jo Baker - audiobook

Insights of below stairs thinking and well drawn imagery are a unique addition to Jane Austen's world of Pride and Prejudice. While the Bennets live out their balls and Regency lives, we learn of maids and servants that live within their home yet out of sight. Emma Fielding...
Not My Father's Son, A Memoir by Alan Cumming

As a long-time Alan Cumming fan, I was very excited about his new book! I am pleased to say that it lived up to my expectations and was as witty and whimsical as the delightful actor himself, despite the dark subject matter. Cumming shows great strength in sharing his family's...
Sandra Deeble: A Girl's Guide to Glamour

I bought this cute little book at a local book fair for only a dollar. This guide has been so helpful to me when it came to anything beauty. It's really informational about what body shapes should wear what, how to have a perfect girls' night out, how to pamper yourself, and...
Innocent Man - John Grisham

I find I have a love hate relationship with John Grisham but I didn't mind this book at all! Very interesting all the way through.
Japon coloring book

I was actually a bit disappointed with this. The paper is lovely, but the designs are not to my taste. To be more descriptive many of the designs are very simple or repeating patterns. I was hoping for more Japanese looking designs and I feel like many of them were a tad...

This is the fourth book in the Assassin's Creed novel series. It finishes the story of Ezio and closes things off so well, it leaves you wanting more. This whole series draws you in, so you can't put the books down.
Water For Elephants by Sara Gruen

This book was such an easy and delightful read, even though some parts of the story was difficult to accept. I found the story flowed nicely, the author described the 1930's and the depression in perfect detail that I felt like I was there and could picture the era, the poverty...
Assassin's Creed The Secret Crusade

This is the third book in the Assassins Creed novel series. This book is the story of Altair. It goes very much into detail about his life, early and late in his life. If you are a fan of the game, you will love the book.
Gordon Ramsay - Chefs' Secrets - Cookbook

A complex cookbook with highly sophisticated recipes. The cookbook can be a bit condescending for the novice cook (poulet de Bresse anyone). Yet, can yield the most exquisitive results with persistence and attention to detail.
