Curling up with a good book is a favourite year-round pursuit: in front of a blazing fire in January, in the park under a warm May sun, in a hammock lake-side in July or with coffee on the back porch overlooking brilliant fall foliage.

ChickAdvisor members love light reads like the wildly popular Shopaholic series by Sophie Kinsella or the more introspective romances of Emily GiffinHe's Not That Into You gives us food for thought, and Stephenie Meyer's Twilight series is a guilty little pleasure.

In A Dark Dark Wood - Ruth Ware

This was an easy read & I liked it But it was very predictable ... There was no surprises in this book for me at least (might be different for you ) I would recommend “The woman in cabin 10” from Ruth ware... That one has a bit more surprises.
The graveyard book

Wow!
The Woman He Loved Before: Dorothy Koomson

1 review

I am a huge fan of Dorothy Koomson novels and this one happens to be my favourite of all her books. I first read it when I got it from the local library and then had to buy it. I got it from Amazon for a great price. This novel is about Libby, a woman who is married to a man...
With This Click, I Thee Wed

1 review

This was a relatively quick read, but enjoyable and smooth flowing if you like an "easier" romance read. The premise is simple, with a bit of confusion at the end (dowry payments essentially), and a look into the next book in the series. The main characters essentially are...
HARRY POTTER AND THE CURSED CHILD PARTS ONE AND TWO

It sure is a fun read after the seven-book series. Yet, if you are expecting the same kind of suspense and the fun factors, it is missing a few pieces.
Ellen Hopkins

I actually stumbled on Ellen by mistake. I reserved a few E-books and accidentally clicked on one of hers in error. I am thrilled I did as I had never heard of her or any of her novels and she quickly became one of my favorite Authors of all time. Her novels are targeted...
Oh, The Places You'll Go

It's one of our favourite Dr Suess Books. Spent tons of family time with my (not so) young one reading this treasure. Teaches children that they can be anything with the craziness of Dr Suess added

The Storyteller by Jodi Picoult

Jodi Picoult is one of my favorite authors. I have not read a book of hers I did not like, and this one was no different. This is a really good and informative story about the Holocaust. Offers a unique perspective from both a survivor, the grand-daughter of a survivor, and a...
The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck: A Counterintuitive Approach to Living a Good Life

I can't tell you how much I love this book. Apparently I am a bit late to this game, since someone else also complimented this book on the bus while I was reading it. Yes it sounds like common sense, but he speaks to you at a personal level. You begin to realize that everything...

Lauren Graham - Talking As Fast As I Can

I just adore Lauren Graham, when reading this book of hers I could actually picture her reading it out loud. The flow of the book was perfect, starting off with childhood, teen years and adult life which lead her to being cast on Gilmore Girls, which is one of my favorite TV...
Dark Angels by Karleen Koen

1 review

Historical Fiction. This is a prequel to Through A Glass Darkly, the story before Barbara. It still bears the same characeristic writing of Karleen Koen and makes the pages spring to life as you visualize yourself, down to what the characters look like and the clothes they are...
Now Face to Face by Karleen Koen

1 review

This book is the sequel to Through A Glass Darkly. It continues telling the story of Barbara and draws it all together some more. Barbara has already been through so much, but this story just continues her tale, which I was happy happened! The characters are as rich and...
Through A Glass Darkly by Karleen Koen

Historical fiction, one of my favorite reads. The characters are vivid and bright, just thinking about it now I can picture the story with the description of the clothes they wear, to the tiny details of their shoes. The way their hair was done. The houses, and carriages...
100 Days in the Jungle by Ohler/Hall

This novel is based on a true story, and was eventually made into a movie. On September 11, 1999, eight oil workers-seven Canadians and one American-in Ecuador on a routine mission to repair a stretch of corroded pipe for United Pipeline Systems were taken hostage by fifteen...
