Shampoo is a hair care product used for the removal of oils, dirt, skin particles, dandruff, environmental pollutants and other contaminant particles that gradually build up in hair. Many people shampoo their hair every day but it is actually better to skip a day or two between shampooing to allow the natural oil in the hair to moisturize the hair and scalp. The goal is to remove the unwanted build-up without stripping out so much sebum as to make hair unmanageable. Shampoo is usually used with conditioner. They are two separate bottles but some come in one bottle as a 2-in-1 shampoo and conditioner combo.
