This place is appalling. The owner's a total piece of work and a mendacious con artist. He's crap, and he's got some serious problems. Never go here. I know I never will again. He is one of the most egocentric, cold-hearted people I have ever seen. He is a revolting person, and treats his clients like crap. He won't answer anything straight. It's like he's always trying to dodge something. He's really thorny.
He doesn't know anything about hair. All the reviews say they hate him. So how's his salon so nice? I don't get it.
The absolute worst. My stylist didn't show up for the appointment at all (this happened to three other people there)'; no explanation; no phone call, no receptionist. Nothing. Rude beyond belief. These people have to get offer themselves and offer customer service. Wasted an hour on transit there and back and 40 minutes waiting for someone to serve me. Unbelievable. Never again. I would give this a zero if I could.
If I could give The Davenport Salon a zero star rating I would. While I typically chose to keep negative reviews to myself this I have to share. This would have been my second appt at the salon and I was delighted when someone from the salon reached out to see if I needed another cut via text (a service they offer at the salon for booking appt). We booked and confirmed the appt but when I showed up there was no record of it and the stylist wasn't even there. What erks me about this is threefold:
1) I have an 8 week old baby at home and since I own my company it is a nightmare to schedule time to get from Leslieville up to the salon. Luckily, my mum was in town and able to help.
2) The receptionist didn't apologize and instead made a snide remark to the owner about how it was no big surprise that the stylist wasn't answering their phone.
3) The owner was standing in the salon doing absolutely nothing, did not offer an apology or to help to find a solution and the salon was completely empty.
I should also mention that while I was waiting to find out if my stylist would in fact appear, the receptionist hung up after a phone call and made a rude remark about the customer on the phone to the owner. Not the type of attitude or level of service one would expect from this (or hopefully any other) salon.
Last, I'd recommended this place to my sister who went to have her hair cut and coloured. Instead of getting blond highlights they dyed her hair brown and seemed annoyed that they would have to fix it.
Overall, I think it is appalling that a business driven on referrals and reputation could offer such poor quality of customer service.
I will not be going back and would recommend avoiding this place.
Beware if you buy a discounted voucher for this salon. My voucher said color was included and once I was done she charged me an extra $40.00 saying that full head color was not included. I am not one to fight these things so I just gave it to her and left. I wouldn't be upset if at least she had done a good job but the blow dry was super rushed. I thought she was nice but is really not fair to rip people off. I totally get that you shouldn't expect the best work to be done with discount vouchers but if they do a good job they could be getting a loyal customer.
Aside from poor little Andrew who somehow got caught up with the wrong people, this place sucks my ass. The services or products used are never listed, you have no idea what the going rates are and all you hear is them telling you got a great deal. the owner Ravi is piece of work! Hes so busy dodging straight answers that he starts tripping over his lies.
I have had keratin, dye and cut, and each one is more disappointing than the other. Making an appointment is overly difficult and they screw up often. They are apologetic but i dont think they understand what a waste of time and space they really are and more importantly that they should get theyre heads out of 2004.
This place relies on its address for substance and when it falls short, they just cut out another piece of the wall...hey ravi what are you working with now 50 square feet.
sorry if i seem abusive but i jjust cant stand fraudsters, and these guys are the biggest swindlers around.
I found 186 Salon on an online coupon deal. I checked out reviews and decided to go. Best decision EVER! I was greeted warmly and made to fell comfortable and welcome. Fabulous head massage and shampoo, followed by the most amazing cut by Michael. He suggested highlights and I'm so glad I followed his advise, they re fabulous and I've had compliments from everyone I've seen since my haircut and highlights. Highly recommend them. Prices are a bit high, but worth it, if your budget can handle it. Otherwise, look for an online deal for them. AMAZING experience.
Well I needed an appointment with my hairdresser and they were too busy so i looked on the internet to find something close to me. of course i chose the davenport salon because it was 1 minute away. I was greeted as if they knew me before. i had a nice wash with massage and then they put me in the sit of ANDREW.
First of all they asked me if i wanted coffee but I went for the delicious cappucino. Before i was washed the technician Andrew spoke to me about what we are going to do. His hands are like scissorhand. Andrew does a fabulous cut and I will not go back to the other place, My short hair believe or not was flowing. Its the first time I received a wonderful blowdry. My hair felt like it was flowing. i cant tell you what a grand experience I had. The staff is not only amazing but very accomodating. The owner is very nice and also accomodating.
I fully recommend this salon if you want relaxation. Andrew is fab and he has a great sense of humour. This is one spot that will do well. keep it up DAVENPORT SALON

One word to sum up my experience AMAZING! I had been looking for a new hairdresser so one of my friends had reccomended here because she goes there. I was a bit skeptic at first but then had no doubts because her hair is always stunning after she gets it done. So i decided to give them a try and I was booked with Marina for highlights and Andrew for my cut. Marina really knew what she was doing with the highlights, they turned out PERFECT! they turned out to be a beautiful golden blonde (my other salon would make them with a ugly yellow tone). When my hair was washed I had recieved a treatment which made my hair feel like SILK! (usually feels like straw). Then i was brought over to Andrew for my haircut, I explained that i did not want a lot off only about an inch at most. I HATE when hairdressers cut too much off but he cut the PERFECT amount off which I was extremly happy about. I had a party to go out to that night and he gave me the BEST BLOWDRY! my hair was stunning. I was very pleased with my visit to the Davenport Salon and deffinatly will go back and I HIGHLY reccomend this salon to everyone :D
I must disagree with that last nasty negative comment listed by that poor minded fool, I have no idea what she is talking about, she must be one of those clients that goes around from salon to salon looking for a good deal and ends up complaining wherever she goes because she has nothing better to do with her sad life. But aside from her poor personality I must STRONGLY disagree, When I went to this salon for the first time the ambiance was amazing had a great classy atmosphere, the staff was very wonderful to me, Very clean and stunning. I had a fabulous stylist named Andrew who just blew me away when he touched my hair, I've never had ANY other stylist in this city do my hair the way he did, I asked him to keep my long length for me but to give me a lot of movement and to make me look FAB which he definitely did. The style in the end and movement and the blow dry just blew me away never seen anything like it before. I saw he had a natural raw talent for what he does and he in my personal opinion (and I've been to all those other salons in Yorkville and been to the best of the best like that poor soul stated before) but NO ONE has ever done my hair justice like Andrew did! He is truly the Best in the City and I will keep going back to him along with his many other clients. THANKS ANDREW YOUR THE BEST! XOXO
Where should I start! Working with Andrew a young fake snob who clams for be all real but owns fake L V and other fake labels you would think he would be Licensed. Well having to pay about 60 and plus for a hair cut from a nonlicensed hairdresser is embarrassing, having my hair Colored from a girl that asks for other peoples opinion about which haircolor I should go for is a fale. No one that dose high lights should have to use as much toner as they do there. Coffee from the cheapest brand you can think of and cheap bottles of water served in silver tray now tell me what's wrong with that. And over hearing them talk about up dos witch Andrew said " oh I just curl it and put it up" do you think I wanna pay over 100 buck just for that !!! This place is over priced because of its location. And rabble the owner not having a clue about hair and all the work that goes into taking care of our hair! He's not a hair dresser and yet he's in your face flirting with all his clients. Ask him anything about hair I dare you! This place is set to fail .
