I went there to get my hair curled for my Engagement Party! Everyone loved it - volume and shine all in one :) Thanks ladies! xo
I've been there twice to get my hair done, and once to make an appointment, and it's been a great experience each and every time! The women who work there are very friendly, and can always strike up a convo that you'd want to last for hours instead of just half of one. My hair always looks its best whenever I'm heading out from Blo. As much as I wish I could pull off these styles at home, it's just near impossible for me to do so. I'm glad there's a company out there that can help me when I need it! :)
Yesterday was the fourth time I've been to the Blo Dry Bar on bloor west - I love it for a special treat for myself when there is a special occasion - I think it's particularly worth it when I have a special occasion to go to. Two tips: a) book well in advance and try to go early in the day (yesterday they were out of hot water for my late afternoon Sat appnt b/c it was so busy!) and b) if you want curls, get them to do it with the hairbrush instead of blow drying your hair straight and then using the curling iron - with trial and error I've found the first way stays longer:) Lastly, if you buy the group deals when they come up, you can save some $$ and spend only $20 to get your hair done! Enjoy:)
p.s. I read another review where someone had their hair burnt - I had the same problem/experience at the king street west location (I have never been back there). I've had Randy and Stephanie do my hair at blo bloor west and both did a great job! :)
I came with with some ChickAdvisor Staff for their Bloor West Village Opening. Like Ali said, the concept of this Salon is pretty cool. It's bascially $30 in 30 Minutes Hair Style. The Salon is strictly wash, blow dry, style. You get to choose from a menu with 7 different hair styles. I chose a voluminous curls. I don't quite remember what it's called, but you'll see the name with a illustration of the style on the menu.
The sink was a little uncomfortable and the paper towels for drying was a bit strange (Apparently it's biodegradable) I especially enjoyed the conditioner as it gave my scalp a tingly, cooling effect. The stylist was really nice and tried to teach me tips and tricks on how to do my own on along the way. I came out with the most voluminous and full hair i've ever seen on myself. It was refreshing. I have to admin that my hair was a little over the top and curly at first, but after a while, it just fell into nicely. Even then, i've never had hair with such body so it felt different. But I did get compliments on my hair by a stranger.
What I love the most about this place is the ambiance and decor. Since they don't do cuts and color, the place was clean without hair all over the floor. Overall, i think this is a great option for when you need a blow out or just getting ready for a night out.
