Water spa - place where to spoil your body and mind.
Love it! Its one of my zen places. Women only, great atmosphere, delicious teas, relaxing waters and enjoyable treatments - whast not to love!
My girlfriends and I wanted to try a different kind of spa and this one focuses on water therapies! You follow a water circuit which included cold dips, a salt water pool, hot tea pool, and a sauna! Water therapies are suppose to help with pain relieve, aid in skin care, tighten pores, increase circulation, and provide the benefits of detoxing! The place is clean and the change rooms and showers are great!
There is a 4 hr time limit, but it's easy for those 4 hrs to fly by when you're with good friends! They do have a Tuesday special - $44 (regular price is $54).
They just opened (or are opening) another location soon! This particular location is on Adelaide in Toronto.
I didn't get any of the other items on the spa menu as I found them pricier than other spas I've been to, but the water therapies are a great way to spend an afternoon! You feel so happy and calm when you leave!
I recently went to Body Blitz on a Sunday afternoon with one of my girlfriends. We arrived around 12:30pm and unfortunately had to wait for 45 minutes for a spot to become available. You can only make reservations if you’re having a service (ie. scrub, massage etc.), but not for the water therapies.
The staff was very friendly and helpful. It wasn’t a problem getting extra towels or something from the juice bar. The circuit of water therapies was really fun (except for the cold plunge…kinda of joking here). I enjoyed that it was only women so you didn’t feel uncomfortable in a bathing suit. There were a couple ladies who went naked (which is allowed), but it doesn’t seem that it’s overly common.
There were only a couple of drawbacks – the long wait and there was a lot of water everywhere on the floors. People were walking around constantly cleaning up the water, but still it seemed a bit wet everywhere you’d step. Thankfully everyone is given a pair of flip-flops to wear.
I’d definitely go back again. It was a little pricy ($45) so I don’t think I’d make a habit of it, but it’s a nice winter activity.
This is a women's only, bathing-suit optional spa in the King West district of Toronto. I had wanted to go for the therapeutic waters at the spa and was lucky enough that my guy bought me a gift cert for a body scrub.
I ran through the rain to get there on time. When I got there, I had to wait at the counter while the women in front of me could not make a decision about what they wanted... but the second person at the desk did nothing to help. When I got to the desk however, I received an overview of how the place worked and got the opportunity to sample and choose my treatment product. I was then sent into the main area. In all honesty, I was there on 'cheap night' for the waters and the deck area was pretty full... so I didn't get a facility tour and had to figure stuff out for myself. They have a number of showers, steam room, infra-red sauna, cold dip pool, hot green tea pool, and the 'river' pool of warm salt water. On the wall, there is a recommended circuit of how to best use the waters. I followed the route pretty closely and found it really great! My favourite was the infra-red sauna - warm instead of unbearable; it warms you the way a neo-natal unit does and helps your metabolism. (I am buying one for my home this year, I don't care how!) I also loved the salt water pool. The biggest challenge was the cold water pool. I tried it only once... and stayed in for about 30 seconds... the LONGEST 30 seconds! This circuit will drain you... and yet you will feel marvelous.
The therapist for the body scrub was excellent! I can't say enough good things about the treatment from start to finish. the scrub was full body... and not for the modest woman. You are scrubbed and buffed to glowing skin on a wet table with a hand shower and infra-red lamp for drying. The treatment is feels like a deep cleansing, but is very gentle at the same time. It was wonderful pampering. I wish I could give you her name!
The over-crowded showers at the end of the evening, the harried entry and the crowded locker room were the only things I was not in love with.
