So I had been going to the hairdressers at Buff Nail Lounge for around a year - generally getting my hair trimmed and blonde highlights added.
I decided to dye my blonde hair red, which I did myself - and maintained it for around 3 months.
However, I was getting bored of the colour, and went back to the 'salon' to get my hair dyed back to blonde.
The 'hairdresser' didn't seem to think that would be a problem, and started putting extreme amounts of high percentage bleach on my hair. She kept checking it and saying 'no...we need to put more on.'
Now call me naive...I assumed she knew what she was doing.
Until....my scalp was burning so much I was crying from the pain - and she combed my hair AND IT WAS FALLING OUT!!!!
End result being: I lost half my hair, the rest of it was in such a poor condition it didn't even resemble human hair, and my scalp was so burnt I couldn't sleep on it for days and it's constantly dry. Oh, and my hair turned orange.
Do you know what she said to me?? Well, you know, you should never dye your own hair....this is what happens.... Are you serious??!!
I just want to stress to ANYONE thinking of getting their hair dyed there...DON'T DO IT!! 6 months on and my hair is so short (had to go to a respectable hairdressers to get it all chopped off) and I still haven't managed to grow out all the dead ends. Oh, and it's still not blonde!!
Pretty crappy way to learn the hard way...however I now know to pay a bit more and go to a decent salon! Don't do it guys - they don't know what they're doing!!!!
I bought a mani/pedi on groupon. When I called to make the appointment once I said groupon she said oh -- I said is that a problem. Oh no she said. That should have been my clue. When I arrived gave my name and she said ok someone would be with me. Gee as I have never been there I had to ask where I could hang my coat. Over there -- I was told -- a hook. Worst pedicure I have had -- my feet were not smooth afterwards. So now I go for the manicure -- paying more for the french mani and pedi -- tipped lots -- again one coat. Gee guess what yeah it was smudged the next day. Went off on vacation and oh the mani lasted 3 days before it started all coming off and I was not doing anything but sunning. No cooking, cleaning -- I was on holidays. Never again. Save your money
I recently visited Buff Nail Lounge for a manicure/pedicure and they were terrible. I agree with Ringo that it looks nice on the outside but inside it is gloomy and dark and dull. I have been to a few spas for a mani/pedi and in all these places I have gone for a pedicure I have never had to pay $1.00 for the slippers they put on your feet only to be disposed of at the end. Nail buff also charges extra for callouses which aren't even a part of the Basic Manicure/Pedicure package they charge for $55.00. There are much better places charging lower rates for better service. I thought the rule of thumb for pedicures is that it is understood that callouses, a complete scrubbing, etc. are all part of a normal pedicure. That didn't happen with this place. Sure they do a special brown sugar scrub that makes your skin feel nice and soft but that was the only thing that was different. The staff were very unprofessional in their manner and the receptionist seemed more interested in her phone calls than providing proper customer service. I found the staff not just trying to make conversation but very interrogating in wanting to know my business and they lacked social graces. Also, what nail lounge have you ever been to whether it be low end or high end that doesn't have a dryer for your feet and hands. Buff nail did not have dryers you just had to sit there and wait for your nails to dry. I would not recommend going there if you want a decent manicure/pedicure.
Too bad I didn't find this website before I spent 15 minutes at Buff Nail Lounge on Front Street - don't even bother. They gave me an appointment over the phone and I live nearby so got there 2 minutes before my appointment. The receptionist did acknowledge my arrival and told me to go pick out a nail color. I was in my hot winter coat with heavy purse so I looked around for a bit and chose my color and then went to see if there was a place for my stuff. No. I noticed other peoples stuff hanging on 1 or 2 hooks around the place. This service woman sitting in a chair on her cell phone asked me what I wanted. I told her I wanted to put my coat away looking towards a hook already taken - she said no! - you can't put it there thats for the staff - I looked around and there was nowhere - right away I was ready to go but then that same service woman told me I could just lie it all down on the couch so I did that. No one paid any attention to me - not to ask if I wanted, to direct me to sit and wait, even that service woman went back to her call and completely ignored me as if I wasn't there!! I asked the receptionist if the appointment would be late as it was already after 5:00. She motioned to someone in the front working on someone and said she's almost finished. I took a minute to look around - I felt totally ignored and abused. I just stood in the middle of the place feeling complete disinterest from everyone.
One service woman was just finishing a guy's feet and she went into the back with the dirty tools (I followed her as I was getting a pedicure) no one was noticing me anyway - and she was just washing them in the sink back there. I knew then this wasn't a clean place, not for me. I started to gather my stuff to leave yet still giving anyone ample time to notice me getting dressed but no one - not even the receptionist looked (she was at a table and had started to work on a woman who came in after me!) so I got dressed and stood there looking around at a place with quite a few staff but not one gave a crap what this customer was doing. I thought of saying something like - bye bye - very bad service! or something for any attention but then I just decided it wasn't worth the embarassment so I left. I wouldn't give them 4 cents never mind 40$ they wanted for a pedicure. This is another sad example of a business with sub par employees, attitude and service. Pathetic really.
Visited Buff Nails with two other girlfriends for walk-in appointment as we were jonesing to fixup our toes. It was a Friday night when we were told by the staff it was too late and it would take too long, THE PLACE WAS EMPTY TOO!!! and we arrived WELL BEFORE closing time. Their website claims they give no attitude... which is complete BS. VERY DISSAPPOINTING BUFF NAIL LOUNGE, VERY DISSAPPOINTING INDEED.
This salon is a joke. Service is awful, products used are poor quality.I will notify the authorities about their sanitation and disinfection procedures . I came with perfectly healthy nails ,they butchered my cuticles and I got bacterial infection. I took pictures of my hands and nails and I am going to contact my attorney to file a law suit against the owner. Staff members are uneducated same as the owner who is by the way chain smoker and smells like an ashtray . I will make sure that my friends and family members never visit this place and I will do everything in my power to shut this place down.
I had one of my worst spa experiences at Buff Nail Lounge. From the nail polish pealing with in an hour of the manicure, to the rude service, to the unclean environment. Avoid the pedicure unless you want a fungal infection. It took my friend 6 months before the infection she got from Buff to clear up.
