I found this place through LivingSocial deals (a group purchasing site like Groupon) and paid approximately $20 for a facial, manicure and pedicure - which is an amazing deal! Although you have to pay extra taxes, $4 for your pedicure kit and $2 for the facial kit, which made the deal come up to $30 plus the cost of tip. Anyway, the Canadian Aesthetic Academy is a beauty school so I wasn't expecting amazing service, but at least services that would be considered average and supervised by a qualified professional.
The facial I received was decent. It was an hour long, and quite relaxing. My skin looked great after the facial. However, the student working with me wasn't the most professional. I didn't get a lot of feedback on my skin other than the number of white/black heads I had on my face and she even wanted to show me. Gross! Really, I don't need to see that. Also she didn't bother to tell me one very important thing - that I couldn't wear makeup on my face until after a day. I found out after the fact when the other students at the academy told me.
The manicure and pedicure were brutal. First of all, they don't carry nailpolishes! The students ended up bringing their own and I could not find ONE O.P.I nail polish...they were pretty much all cheap brands that ended up peeling off a day after the manicure. I had such a HARD time finding a colour that I wanted because there were so few nailpolishes to choose from. The same student also hacked at my toes, causing them to bleed. When I pointed it out, she said "It was no big deal" and put my foot into the tub.
The nail job was horrendous. She could not apply any nail polish to save her life. I could have done it myself. When I came home to show my husband my nails, he laughed and said that it looked like a 5 year old had done my nails.
Anyway, this is my experience from one student at the academy. I believe that a supervisor should have been there to correct the student if they were doing a poor job, but she seem preoccupied with ordering pizza and getting clients in.
Although I paid approximately $40 for all of the services, I wouldn't go there again (ESPECIALLY for the manicure and pedicure experience).
