I am 8 hours away from Edmonton but happened to be there on business and my hotel was across the street.
I took a chance and went in for a haicut knowing nothing about this salon. Patricia was my stylist. She was great. She gave me a great cut, told me and showed me how to do my own hair and gave me some samples. I asked her to thin my long hair out a bit because I get alot of neck pain and headaches. My hair adds to this if it is a longer style. She thinned it very professionally so it looked and felt great. I haven't had a head ache for 2 months. I will be to Edmonton 4 times this year on business and plan to book in for a haircut with Patricia every time.
Thanks for the great experience.
I am new to Edmonton and so did some research into highly recommended salons in Edmonton. I read the review preceding mine, and therefore thought that Celebrity sounded like a great place to go. When I made my appointment, the young fellow on the phone sounded helpful and professional, so I was thinking it was going to be a hit. When I got there, he continued to be a great first contact from behind the counter. However, things went downhill fast when the girl who was assigned to washing my hair (which is the same girl who sweeps the floors), scrubbed my head like a dishpan. Honestly, my scalp still hurt hours later. You go get your hair done partially for the pampering, right? This wasn't a good way to start. As for my hairdresser - she apparently has 11 years experience, but I couldn't tell from the way she cut my hair. It wasn't a BAD haircut, but heavily mediocre. She didn't have too many creative ideas of her own. As well, one of the problems is that the hairdresser doesn't come out to talk to you and take a look at your hair BEFORE you get your hair wet from being washed. So you have virtually nothing to refer to when you are trying to tell them how you want to improve on your current hairstyle. We got through it, all the while I felt like I was being interrogated rather than having a conversation with someone. And though a mediocre haircut is better than a really bad one, when I went to pay my bill, they charged me $63 for the lame experience. I will never go there again.
I moved to Edmonton from Vancouver about 3 years ago and for the past two years I had the worst time finding a hair salon until I came across Celebrity. I am super picky and only like to go to salons with Aveda products. My stylist Aurore is absolutely beautiful and the nicest lady. She manages to tame my finicky cowlick while transforming my virgin brown hair into a glam fiesty red. I have been going there now for at least a year and is the only Edmonton salon I will go to (even if only for a trim). They have a comfortable feel and as soon as you walk in the door you feel like a celebrity yourself. Everyone there looks like they are from a movie and you leave feeling like a star.
