Well I have been to concepts 2 times prior. Had a Groupon coupon, so thought I would give it a go
My hairdresser JEN .....rocked. Very good at what she does.
    Went to her 2 times.

Then went back to get my hair DYED. as someone stated here. WTF?
My colour was $60. then they added on BLOW DRY for $30??? WTF?
WHO DOES THIS IN TORONTO? NO ONE!!!
And like someone stated here, when I called to book a Colour appt. the receptionist asked
"would you like a blow dry also?"
    I say "um yes"
WHO ASKS THAT at a salon?

ANY salon I have been to the blow dry is a given and INCLUDED in the price
I didn't even have my hair CUT. I got that 2 days prior.

I thought I had found a new place to get my hair done. BUT after THIS FIASCO: NEVER AGAIN!

Concepts: YOU really have to re-do your prices and DELETE the blow dry extra
You think we are going to get a colour and walk out with wet hair? WTF?
And fix your stupid website. I betcha it is NOT up because you don't want anyone to see your IDIOT prices.

WOW. NEVER AGAIN. You lost me as a customer and everyone I told in the beginning
EVERYONE at my work says you are crazy for charging $30 for a blow-dry
YOU are NOT HOLT RENFREW and even THEY DO NOT CHARGE $30 for a blow-dry
    I am so flippin' mad!!!!!!!!!!

I was treated to a manicure and pedicure compliments of Concepts and their lovely PR peeps. To be honest, I had never noticed Concepts before despite the fact they have two locations along the Bloor path system. My experience was great!

At first look, the decor seems a bit dated. To be fair, they've been around for 16 years (who knew?) and the spa is in great condition, but the style is a bit older (90s-ish?) and I suspect it appeals to an older demographic. But don't let that stop you from enjoying their services, because they're great and well worth the price.

I had a manicure and pedicure with Anna and she did a wonderful job. Combined, it's just under $75. I received very friendly service and left feeling pampered. I loved that she used a power buffer for my heels and rough spots instead of coming at me with a blade, which I never let anyone use on me. My feet were soft for weeks!

Bottom line: If you want a reasonably priced spa treatment without the hustle/impersonal treatment of a cheapie nail salon this is a much more upscale and professional experience and you will be treated well.

I came back for a pedicure with Sam last week and it was awesome. They are very careful with hygiene here and I love the power buffing tools they use instead of razors (I never let anyone use razors on my feet). The two pedicures I've had here so far are among the nicest I've experienced because the staff are all really great and the treatment feels very personalized.

I have to admit I was fairly skeptical when my friend Ryan (male) recommended Concepts salon to me. I was overdue for a haircut, 2 months and my hair was fried. However, due to some insulting comments by my last stylist at a salon I will NOT mention (a prior stylist of mine claimed the only way to add length to my face would be for me to 'lose weight'). Needless to say, I had some concerns about trying a new place...

However, those fears vanished when I met Andre.....here are some of the reasons Andre is a great stylist:

    1. He listens to clients and gives a thorough consultation
    2. He makes suggestions based on your hair condition, face shape, and head shape
    3. He is creative and precise!

The shampoo and condition were a great treat before the cut as they included a lengthy scalp massage! My haircut is fantastic! I walked out with a new style (for me) that really complemented my face, and my personality! Andre even took the time to pull out color swatches when I mentioned that I was considering a change.

I will definitely be going back to Concepts to see Andre for REGULAR haircuts and color! Great experience!

I was extremely disappointed with the most aspects of service at Concepts Salon. Although it was in the mall it looked slightly more upmarket than one would think, but I found the staff to be unprofessional (eg. the receptionist was eating fast food at the front desk and had her mouth full when I was checking in).

I had my hair done there a few times before (since they are one of the few salons open on Sunday), but this past visit will certainly be my last. I have never in my life heard of such a thing, but apparently you need to actually SPECIFY that after your color, you do not want to be left in a chair with soaked hair (still full of dye) to blowdry yourself. I was completely shocked. Not only did the receptionist taking my appointment interpret "just a color, no cut" to somehow mean I wanted to be left on my own with wet hair, but the stylist didn't even check the color after the wash to see how it turned out, which is COMPLETELY unacceptable.

I can't imagine even the most downmarket hair salon not taking it for granted that a client would require a blowdry or that the stylist should check the color, which by the way, is totally uneven and will now have to be redone at a better salon. That aside, I couldn't care less if they want to charge extra for blowdrying, but to have to request it or be left to your own devices is just absurd.

Concepts Salon and Spa. Located right in the middle of downtown toronto. 2 locations, Yonge and Bloor, Bay and Bloor.
At Bay and Bloor, the spa is across the hall from the hair salon.
At Yonge and Bloor the spa is the back of the hair salon.
NOTHING like a nail bar. professional aestheticians at each location.
and all the hair stylists are amazing and have great personalities. it's not like sitting in a chair in awkward silence for 45 minutes.
i've been going here for years and get ALL of my services done at concepts.
they do waxing, threading, massages, facials, manicures, pedicures even laser hair removal.
the hair salon does perms, highlitetes, cuts.
    concepts really is 'the works'.
theyre quick so you dont need to cancel an entire day of activites.
its super easy to make appointments even though they're busy, and there's always someone at the phones
their gift certificates make great gifts too.
you really need to give it a try, i recommend them 100%
