I was there last week to have my colour done with Jessica and everything from start to finish was a pleasant experience. Everyone was attentive and made me feel like the only client in the salon. Jessica was the best colour technician by far. My hair never felt better, even after I washed it at home. I will definetly go back.
Debardinis is a great place to get your hair cut and blowdried! If you're going to pay to get this done anyways, why not treat yourself to a few perks, that are free! When they wash your hair they give you a nice little scalp massage - it's great. I love getting my hair washed here. Then you are given a complimentary coffee, tea, cappuccino, etc. Overall, they get the job well done (try Jessie's blowdries!) and you get a few extra treatments :)
After several years of changing hairstylists, I decided to try De Berardinis, since I live so close to Fairview and it seemed reasonably priced. I have been getting my hair cut there now for the past 5 years, and I don't plan on leaving any time soon. The service is great, and everyone is very friendly. My stylist is great, I have insanely thick and frizzy hair and after it's blow-dried she takes her time and goes over it with the flat iron (which is a daunting task, believe me). The salon also has a spa, which I have never used but am planning to this summer.
Overall, if you're looking for a new salon I would highly recommend De Berardinis.
Hello, my name is Georgina Spirolo and I am a first time client of DeBerardini's Salon And Spa at Fairview Mall. I was pleasantly surprised by the conscientious staff members and their constant attention. I felt really comfortable and welcome, which is usually a factor when I have gone to other salons previously.
My hair was very fine and damaged due to highlighting and bleaching. What I truly wanted was for someone to tell me what to do in order to get my hair back into healthy shape again. From the moment I had entered the salon, it was all about me, it felt great actually. We sat down with Jess, the color technician, and discussed what I've done to my hair in the past and what I was looking to achieve. She gave me various options to choose from and suggested a few things that would help me with my current situation. The result was fantastic! I had a great first experience at the salon and would definately come back.
I did not make an appointment so I was told by the receptionist that I would have to wait for 45 minutes. I was okay with that since it was inside Fairview Mall and it would be easy to kill 45 minutes! She told me to write down my info on a piece of paper because the computers were down.
I went back 45 minutes later, my stylist brought me to the chair to assess my hair. Then she took me to the back of the salon to get my hair washed and while looking extremely bored and distracted the whole time. She was talking to the other staff and customers making me think she was only half paying attention to what she was doing!
After the wash, we discussed how to cut my hair. I told her what I wanted and instead of giving me suggestions, she told me what was wrong with my hair (apparently everything about it - including the colour, cut, perm, texture) but didn't give me any suggestions on how to fix it. She gave me some generic suggestions like, "we'll cut this much" and "more layers means more volume". Then she went ahead to cut it, and AGAIN she was distracted the entire time. She was glancing around the store at what everybody else was doing or completely zoned out. I found that really annoying and unprofessional.
THE BEST PART was when she blow dried my hair. When she was done, I thought she was joking because I had HUGE FRIZZY HAIR. Simply put, I looked stupid. It must have shown on my face because she asked me what was wrong and "don't you like it?" I told her it was way too big and curly (understatement). She said she would blow dry it again. After the 2nd time (involving a lot of round brushes literally hanging from my head), I did not look like I had been electrocuted, but more like I came out of an 80's karaoke video. I didn't have the heart to tell her that I hated it, but I'm pretty sure she saw it on my face. And so I left with my big, big swirly curly hair.
Overall, I would definitely not go back to this place. It was my first time there and what a bad idea.
This hair salon is found in the upper level of Fairview Mall (404/Sheppard) near the Bay. I discovered De Berardinis through a co-worker 5 years ago and I have been going there ever since. I have also managed to get all of my friends (female and male) to give the place a try! Everyone one of them goes there now to get their hair done along with other spa services. Prices vary depending on the level of stylist you want. For the most expensive stylist Nic is a great hairdresser. Their colorists also do an excellent job with highlights etc. Cathy does an excellent job with eyebrow threading. I highly recommend this salon/spa to anyone!
