I had a root touch up 2 weeks ago and a student was recommended to me maybe because there's no one else available. When I got home, I scrutinized my hair and unfortunately the student did not do a good job. I called their branch twice and was told that I CANNOT HAVE A REDO because he was a student and I only paid $40. The girl who answered the phone asked me if I'd like to leave a message on the manager's answering machine in which I did but that manager never called me back in which I think is UNPROFESSIONAL AND COWARD OF THE FACT.
First, it is not the fault of the student for being a student and was recommended to me. It was not my fault either to give this student a chance to do my hair and be successful someday. The front staff did not make me aware of this STUPID POLICY even before I said yes to this service. I don't even understand why no one suggested that I pay extra so this student can redo my hair and give this student a chance to correct his mistake. I have been a client of Donato for years and this was not even given into consideration.
I THINK THESE GUYS ARE ALREADY IMMUNE OF NEGATIVE FEEDBACKS THAT THEY DON'T CARE OF WHAT THEIR CLIENTS SAY.
The moral of the story is SAY NO if a student was recommended to you because students don't have a place for growth and development at this salon.
I was in the mall last week and desperately needed my hair done, although I was very skeptical about trying somewhere new I needed it badly so I decided to walk into Donato and see if they could take me.
I got highlights done, which were fine just what I asked for...pretty simple.
But I cut a lot of hair off and this is where I was scared the most ( I cut 6 inches) but it turned out fantastic and I couldn't be happier.
Tiffany did my highlights and Tory did my cut and I highly recommend them both!
Tory listened to everything I told her and all my concerns and I will definitely be returning!!
She curled my hair with a wand, which I have never seen but I am obsessed and everyone needs to go get one.
The people there are stuck up! They don't give a crap about customer service, the woman didn't listen to what I said and chopped my hair and then blow- dried my hair to cover up her mistakes, when I went there the next day there were no hairstylist there to fix my hair and there was no protocol to deal with my situation. Non the less I will never go back to that establishment EVER AGAIN!!
It was not at all worth it. I booked with a hairstylist and she didn't give me anytime. I had an appointment and still I had to wait, later my hairs were washed but NOT conditioned, this was done by some other stylist as my stylist was busy, then my hair were combed again by some other stylist as she was still busy, finally my stylist did the consultation for my hair cut, my hairs are curly she saw that and still she cut it very very short, my hairs were long enough until my waist and it were cut down till my neck. I told her that I straighten and keep it curled sometimes and still she didn't listen and cut all the way until my neck. And now my hairs look so boxy and ugly when they are not straightened. I cursed the day I went to her.
She didn't even blow dried my hairs properly, no heat protectant as well. Just plain blow drying.
I do not recommend Donato Salon and will not come back again.
There was a Groupon for this Salon for hair cut and celebrity manicure for $49. So I purchased it and went at the beginning of April, 2012. For the Groupon price, it was pretty good. However, if I had to pay the regular price, I don't think the services that I received was worth the price.
First off, when I entered the salon, the receptionist was busy helping another customer. I waited patiently; however, he was taking quite a long time with the customer. He did NOT acknowledge my presence by glancing my way smiling or letting me know he will be with me shortly. There were 2 other girls waiting behind me and no acknowlegment from the receptionist. This did not make me feel very welcomed and feels that I was being ignored. Finally, another person greeted me and helped me after what seems like a long time. My hair stylist was running late so I sat down and waited for her. The person who helped me did not give me a magazine or anything to keep me occupied. When the stylist was ready, she was friendly and nice. I don't have anything negative to say about her. As a matter of fact, she was very good and did a great job cutting my hair and styling it. Afterwards, she walked me to my manicurist. Again, no negative comments here either. She was also very nice and did a great job on my nails.
So why did I rate this salon so low? There were quite a few reasons: 1) When I first entered the salon, I did not feel welcomed. 2) I didn't like the hustle and bustle of the salon atmosphere. There were a lot of people walking back and forth. Sometimes, I feel like there were a lot more workers then customers. Also an employee was getting married and having a party. Many employees seemed to be preoccupied with going to this party. It just seemed distracting to me. 3) When my appointment was finished and I went to pay, the same receptionist who ignored me at the beginning was helping me. However, while he was helping me, he was also helping 2 other customers. I thought that was quite rude. When I first walked into the salon, he didn't even give me a nod and now while I was leaving, he didn't have the courtesy to give me his full attention. 4) I had a question regarding the Groupon amount and the tax that I had to pay and he said he would call Groupon and give me a call next week to make sure everything was ok. He did not call. Thankfully, I figured it out and the amount I paid was right. 5) When I went home, I took a look at the receipt and noticed he had given me someone else's receipt! This was probably because he was helping too many customers at once! 6) Finally, the overall impression of this salon is that it is very unprofessional! I would definitely not go back again.
I love this salon. I go there to get my haircut and coloured and i have never had a bad experience - i have been there at least 20 times. i have always been treated nicely and left very happy. i just had my hair done with Ashley 2 days ago and signed into chick advisor to let her and the world know how happy i am - i have been given soooo many compliments and by people that i meet for the first time. it is obvious that we forget to pass along compliments and positive reviews when there due. this is obvious by the reviews on this site. I have never had a problem, always been happy, and Ashley is awesome. the salon is cool, the people are nice so hopefully you will find this useful if you are looking for a good place to go.
Read some of the other reviews, wow shocking! Went to this salon and was extremely happy, friend of mine recommended. Been to many other salons and they never get what I want. I had a colour with Jeff and haircut with Adam, both of them took the time to understand what I wanted and they nailed it. I asked to go from my natural mousey brown to a chocolate brown with caramel highlights and cut about 4 inches off of my hair. Must say this was pretty nerve racking as I have had my hair long for as long as I could remember. Adam was patient with me as i sat with a panic stricken look on my face. Anyway, in the end i couldn't have been happier, my hair looked amazing. I give this place two thumbs up - sorry to hear about all of the other posts, but I recommend you try Jeff and Adam, they are totally gifted.

She will not ever listen to what you want done she Burnt my hair and I ended up with a cut that was totally uneven and lopsided.
Be aware when going to Donatos that you do NOT end up with **.

** is the work I have ever been to, and I have been to Magic Cuts in the past. How can you have a stylist like this and Charge the high prices that Donato's charges.
First of all she was 1/2 hr late for my appointment and didn't even apologize and then when I told her what I wanted done she completely ignored me and did what she wanted.
Well as it turned out both sides were not even with each other and my bangs look like they were cut by a 3 year old.
I was very disappointed as I had heard such good reviews about Donato's but I am now afraid to come back.
I hope they screen there stylists alot better than they did when they hired **.

THAT IS WORST I HAVE EVER BEEN TO NOT WORK.
I've been there 3 times, same girl. My appt. never starts on time. The first 2 cuts were ok, but the 3rd time, she butchered my hair. My hair was finally starting to look long again, she knew I was growing out my hair, but she ended up cutting it shorter than the first time I was there. I told her to cut the back, and leave the sides long; she said she would trim some of the dead ends. When she was done, one side was obviously shorter than the other, so she had to cut more to fix it. WTF!! She straight ironed it, so it was hard to tell how uneven and choppy it was until I got home.
My boyfriend commented 'what happened to your hair?' I'm so depressed - I cancelled a party I was supposed to go Saturday night. I don't feel like leaving the house at all, but I have to go back there and show them what a bad haircut I got - if they even care....
