67% OF CHICKS DIG IT
while I agree with the other two reviewers that the merchandise is quite hip and trendy, and the prices are extremely reasonable, I have so many reservations against the services.
Firstly: I bought one of their funky orange swivel chairs and the chair arrives missing pieces (screws and the like) to enable me to assemble it. Nobody answers the phone or responds to my messages. Then finally someone did and they sent me screws that do not fit! Then I left a message threatening to bring in the chair and just dump it in the store. Finally someone calls back and says that they'll send me a new chair, and voila, the new chair feels different, and looks different: the cushion is fluffier, the color is brighter...etc... which made me start thinking that what was sent to me in the first place was a second grade product (i.e. something that was returned by a previous customer or was used in a showroom)...
Secondly, and remember, that this is simultaneously, the ginger round coffee table that I had ordered comes with cracks all over the lower edges, and the drawers do not open. Again, a second class product, that was either used by another person or in a showroom (by hundreds of clients). IT looked battered to the extent that their own delivery guy said that this is faulty and that I should return it. That was in March. And simultaneous with what was going on with the chair above. The same phone calls and same threat of bringing it to the store and dumping it there.... that same person who eventually got back to me, after saying that if I wanted I can bring it back offered that I wait a couple of months, until June, when they can back-order another table for me. So I waited; I called in again, and the person who answered me this time wanted "pictures" of how i cannot open the drawers. When she detected my angry tone, she "went back to the files" and discovered that the story is on file, and said that she'll get back to me after she checks what causes the delay. She never gets back to me, of course. So i call again, and this time she responds to my voice message a couple of days later apologizing that the table is still in back order and if I wanted I can wait until September. I thought about it and honestly, as much as I LOVED that coffee table, I was genuinely fed up with their dishonest treatment. So I called back and asked them to come and pick it up.
I would have loved to buy more stuff from them as I settled in more in my new place (I just arrived in Canada and literally starting my place from scratch). As someone whose profession is in design, I really think their stuff is neat and beautiful; funky and elegant. But after such treatment, I wouldn't venture with the headache.
I hope this would be helpful to others who might consider buying from them.
I recently moved into a new house and I was determined to purge some of the not so loved furniture from my collection. Due to all of the costs of closing a mortgage and moving expenses and the need to have my new purchases bought and delivered as soon as I moved in, I wanted pieces that were great but not astronomically expensive. I immediately rummaged thru all of the home show mags that I had collected over the last couple of years and I came across EQ3's catalogue. I was in furniture heaven even though I had a slight preconceived notion that there would not be a lot available in my price range, I still swallowed my fear and went into the store. To my surprise there was a lot of great selection in my price range and I have to agree with Miss Chickie it is a class above IKEA. My most memorable part of my EQ3 experience was the odds and ends section, where I fell in love with my not so perfect leather (grade 3, Awesome) couch!! At almost half the price and just a few scuffs on the side (which you can't even see) I got a really good deal!! Not to sound too much like a testimonial, but I would recommend this store to anyone looking for simple, modern furniture with clean lines and at reasonable prices!!!
This is a very cool store to buy funky furniture, dishes, bedding and lights (and more!). I just visited the 222 King St. East location and loved it more than any of their other locations. It is much bigger than the other stores and there is so much to look at. I ended up buying a set of 8 really cute purple glasses with polka dots for $5 each.
The prices are pretty reasonable considering the coolness of the merch. It's like a really upscale IKEA but with much better quality and selection. I loved the bedding and all of the funky lights and couches. If nothing else, come here to be inspired!
