I really liked this Salon. My hairdresser was Oz Mann; he was great! Asked me what I wanted and ensured that I ended up satisfied with my hair. He didn't do anything other than what I asked him to do. He was also very professional and gave me a beautiful hair cut. In terms of the salon itself, it is in a convenient location, it's clean, and I didn't have to wait too long for my turn. They also kept asking me if I wanted anything to drink! Overall, they're great at what they do.

I was really pleased my with my Evoke experience! Nicola (sp?) did my colour - I really appreciated that she took the time to explain a bit about the science behind the different shades. She was also quite observant in terms of assessing me and as a result I was very, very happy with the end colour. In fact it's been a couple months and I'm STILL getting compliments! :-)
Jason did the haircut and he did an absolutely stellar job. I have short hair, very fine and straight. Not only did he do the fastest haircut I have ever experienced, he also gave me one of the best cuts I've ever had! My limp, lousy hair has been looking great, again even after a couple months - which for a short cut is pretty exceptional. I can't wait to go back! Thanks so much Evoke team! :-)

I have short hair and am very particular about how my hair is cut. To find a hairdresser who can cut short women's hair is not easy. I was referred to Jason and I could not be happier. He gives me a great cut and head massage. The atmosphere at evoke is relaxing and non pretentious.

I am generally not all that concerned about where I get my hair done, or how hip a place is...but I do know and appreciate excellent service, and the service at Evoke is STELLAR.

I live in a completely opposite neighbourhood in Toronto, but ended up at Evoke after getting my hair butchered at a different salon and needing major help. Jason, one of the owners, managed to turn my hack-job into quite a beautiful style. Not only did he fix my hair, but I also walked out the door feeling like I'd spent a few hours in a spa.

The attention to detail at Evoke is brilliant: the table beside my chair which had popcorn and fresh water for me also had hooks so my purse didn't sit on the floor collecting hair clippings (so smart), the shampoo station is in a low lit room so you can close your eyes and zone out, the shampoo itself had me melting in the the seat, not to mention that before you even start all of that, your stylist gives you aromatic head massage to...God, just make you feel amazing and set the tone for your visit!

I am greatly impressed with Evoke--it FAR exceeded any expectations I had about going to a salon--I was there last week and can't stop telling people about my experience...I truly would recommend this place to anyone. The staff were all very welcoming, the place was busy but not intimidating or stressful, and Jason is fabulous. If you appreciate exceptional service, PLUS great hair cutting- you've got to go. For me, it's definitely going to be worth the trek up to Yonge and Eg.

Oh my gosh don't know where to start. PLEASE do not go Evoke on Yonge Street. If you have crummy hair to begin with they will only make it worse. There may only be one experienced hairdresser in the salon, the rest are newbies or inexperienced. Don't trust when receptionist says, they are all good or she suggests someone. One stylist especially does not know how to colour and another cannot cut. My hair is uneven, colour was terrible and had to be redone. Absolutely not worth the price nor the grief.

I have very frizzy curly hair, and it is hard to find a person who can cut it properly.
I've been going to evoke salon for several years now, and love the enthusiastic professionalism they have for hair (particularly curly).
I have referred evoke to many on my friends and family, they have also enjoyed the experience as well.

I went to Evoke about two months ago because someone referred me as a good place. New to TO, I had been looking for a stylist for the last six months. I called Evoke and specifically asked for a stylist who understands curly hair. The receptionist recommended Leslie. She was nice to talk to, and I explained that I wanted my hair to be long, with minimal layers in the back. After she blow dried it it looked nice, if a bit shorter than I had wanted. My nightmare began after I washed my hair: she COMPLETELY WRECKED IT. First of all, the right side it totally shorter than the left side. Moreover, her understanding of layers is completely off. Instead of just layering the bottom tip of the hair in a progressive manner, she chopped of the top part of my hair and left the half portion below it longer. The result it awful. I don't get a wearable look, unless I blow dry is straight, even then I end up wearing it in a bun.

I don't mind paying a high price for a hair cut, in fact I have spent more where I lived before. But $87 for a crappy haircut felt like burning money.

I came upon Evoke about a year ago, when I began having trouble with my stylist of 7 years. (Inexplicably he just started screwing up; deadly colours, obvious missed sections and finally, putting bleach on top of bleach until my hair was snapping off in clumps.) I was desperate and googled "best colour correction in Toronto" and fate led me to Michelle at Evoke.
As bad and broken as my hair was - and dark and dingy - Michelle was adamant about NOT throwing highlights or colour on it (though I so wanted brightening up!) but instead gave me a toner which did brighten me enough to feel I could last until some healthy roots had grown.
Since then, she's kept me going and made the most of my hair (even when I cut it myself and leave her speechless) as well as just being a total and utter delight as a human.
Today I went in to get back on track after another self-created hair problem (which occurred when Michelle had the gall to go on holiday! it shouldn't be allowed...) and again I was NOT indulged with a colour fix, but gently forced to hold off for 2 weeks (she's a task-mistress.) However, in the interim, she conjured up one of the owners (sweet Jason) to give me a much-needed trim which perked me up considerably. But when I went to pay, I was refused.
It's a tough old world out there, but in a time when a lot of things have gone disastrously wrong, Michelle has always been a source of warmth and joy and - not to be sniffed at - expertise. I trust her completely and cannot recommend her highly enough. Seriously. A treasure.
As a quick PS, I've been in the hands of a few other Evoke stylists and all have exceeded my expectations in both results and warmth.

I had been going to the same stylist up until I moved to Toronto which was about 6 months ago. During those 6 months I actually travelled an hour back home to just get my hair done--I was the nervous to have someone else do my hear!

I joined Chick Advisor well before moving here and read about Evoke and it DID make me think about possibly going there, but the thought of having my coifs screwed up make me shiver! But after that trip back to my stylist, I decided it didn't make sense, and I had to let him go ;'(

I hope he NEVER sees this because I am in LOVE! Evoke was the best thing that's happened to my head, actually---I should say Leslie was! I was not nervous after making my appointment, it's true what you read here from other ladies, the girl was polite on the phone and made me feel good about my choice.

You pick your stylist based on prince point. If you are not sure, just ask on the phone, or maybe say you would like to pick someone in the mid range. But I would pay mid or most $$$, it's worth it, it's your hair.

During the initial appointment call, I didn't specifically ask for Leslie, even though I did read one or two reviews on here specifically about her--I just figured what the hell, I read good things, I trust these people. And I got booked with her as per the suggestion of the receptionist on the phone. She assured me Leslie would make a point of taking a look at my face shape, what compliments it, and my hair type.
She did just that, I love it! The place is clean, tidy and very calming.

I read the receptionists were mean, I wouldn't say mean, I'd say they were BORED. Leslie was wonderful, I will be going back in 2 weeks for a complimentary clean up... love.

Other than that, I am satisfied, I will DEF go back, I recommend 100%, you are in GOOD hands.

I still have been going for over two years and am still extremely happy. I get compliments all the time and am always being asked where I get my hair done.

I just brought my sister there and she was MORE then pleased. She's so happy, and she's 17. Really important hair looks good at that age!!

I still highly recommend this salon!

I have had the hardest time commiting to any salon or hairdresser! I'm always somewhat satisfied with the results but never wowe. Well ladies, I am now a commited woman!!
From the moment I got in touch with the receptionist, I had a good impression of this salon. Her recommendations paid off. Leslie was wonderful, cut my hair exactly the way I was hoping, was really knowledgeable and friendly. I also got Michelle to put some highlights and lowlight in my hair...the results are amazing! This is by far my most adventurous haircut ever (I went from having long hair to a short cute funky bob) and absolutely LOVE it!! My hair is easy to style in the morning and it looks just as amazing as when I left the salon!

The price is a bit steep, 66$ for a cut with Leslie (55$ with other less experienced stylists) and 105$ for foils....but ladies.....it was worth every pennie!
