Best haircut ever! I am so picky and particular about my hair dressers. Ryan is the only stylist who has ever been able to give me exactly what I want. When I know what I want, he listens and carries it out to a T. But leave him to his own devices and he knows how to make a woman look good. I feel completely comfortable letting him be creative, because I always leave the salon feeling like a million bucks. Not to mention, Ryan is always keeping me entertained with his wit and good timing. You can never underestimate the importance of good conversation while you're at the salon! If you're looking for someone talented, or just need some fresh perspective, he's your guy!
I hd my hair cut on October 14, 2010 by a stylist by the name of Ergys. He was amazing!!!!!! He took the time to discuss and analize my hair needs. I love my new cut, very chick and modern. I would reccomend him and the salon to everyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
After many MANY bad haircuts, (its been years, since I've been happy with my haircuts!) I decided to try Evoke. My roomate has been going there for about a year, and raves about it everytime. I decided to call and make an appointment with her stylist, Jill.
I came into the salon and was greeted warmly and offered a drink from their huge drink menu. Jill greeted me within minutes of my arrival, and we started the consultation. I felt at ease almost immediately. I stressed her how unhappy I have been. She was so detailed about what i wanted to see, and more importantly what I didn't want to see. As I told her what I had had in the past, she relayed to me why I was not happy. She knew exactly what shapes worked and what didn't with my hair type and face shape.
What can I say, the haircut was amazing! She did exactly what we discussed, and I love my hair! The haircut, the staff, the atmosphere, everything about this salon, has made me a believer in great hairstylists, and amazing business'
Let me start off by saying that the only reason why I even bothered getting my haircut here was because my friend from work got hers done, and gave me a 50% off coupon. I'm a college student, living on my own, so 50% off a professional salon wash/cut/style that's usually only $50 sounds a lot more reasonable than some other places in this neighbhourhood (cough, one place (that I will not name) charges $240 for the same thing o_O). My friend's hair was fantastic and she couldn't stop raving about how excellent the stylist was.
From the time I called to make the appointment to the time I left the salon, I kept becoming more and more impressed. The receptionist is simply lovely, the stylists are wonderful and full of personality, and the owner is the nicest most down-to-earth guy I've ever met. He was actually the one who did my hair, and god damn he was probably the best hair stylist i've ever had. I trusted him enough to let him do his thing, and boy am I glad I did. My hair looks absolutely fantastic. Easily the best haircut i've EVER had and it only cost me $25. He even told me to come back and they'd do my bangs for free!
Unfortunately, I was so distracted talking to him that I completeeeeely forgot to leave a tip! I felt like such a jerk, especially since I'm so super impressed with my hair. I'll have to make sure I tip him double next time, or maybe bring him something to say thanks :)
I've been going to this salon for several years and love their staff - except for their receptionists.
Over the years, I feel like they are getting worse and worse, not friendly at all when you're trying to schedule an appointment with you favourite hair dresser - they are not even helpful and try to find a solution or call you back with an appointment that works for you.
If only I could book my appointment with the colorist directly and not deal with these receptionists :)
I am not quite sure what to say! this place stole my heart right away!! I have never, nor will I ever, experienced a salon like this before! the people are EXCEPTIONAL the service WONDERFUL, and my hair has never looked or felt like this before. I went in and got a haircut with Christina, It was THE BEST I have ever had. For what I got, her price was soo reasonable, I mean $60 for an upscale trendy shop at Yonge and Eglinton!? Then there was my color service, with Erin, she was soo cute, funny and proffessional. By the way my color lasted 9wks!!! I am not sure who it is that writes negative reviews here? I think they are either WAAAAY too demanding or .... living in a fantasy world. THIS IS THE BEST SALON I HAVE EVER BEEN TO! I will NEVER leave them! WOW WOW WOW
I've been a client of Evoke for many years... from the beginning as a matter of fact. I can truly say that my experience as their client has been an amazing one, time and time again.
The talent of their stylists and colour technicians are probably the best in all of Toronto, and they have the highest quality of customer service. I can always count on a pleasurable experience as soon as I walk through their doors. Wait time is minimal, the atmosphere is young, fun and energic and a cold or hot beverage is in my hands within minutes of arriving... now that's service!
I trust my stylist enough to tell him to get creative and do what he thinks would look best on me and what would work best for my lifestyle. My colour technician is equally trustworthy. I have a great relationship with both of them that has developed over the years.
I used to live in the city, but have since moved out of town. I tell you... it's worth the trip to Toronto!
I hope you enjoy your experience as much as I do!
I can't sleep. Every time I think of or notice my hair, I want to cry. I'm surprised at myself for how much I'm reacting to this - but I'm afraid that this is this worst haircut I've received in a long time. =(
I have long since avoided cheaper salons (i.e. First Choice, under $20 deals). But I have been more satisfied at such salons because at least one can justify - you get what you pay for. My friend had recommended this particular stylist at Evoke because he's supposed to be more "senior". I should've double-checked his credentials because the cut I received was far from professional.
There is no question that the superficial services - friendliness of staff, atmosphere, etc - were all impressive. I was actually feeling pretty positive even after I left the salon, ignoring a small nagging feeling that something was not quite right about having a wash, cut and dry all within less than half an hour of wash, cut and dry despite the length of my hair (mid-back). I'm not one to argue with efficiency. But efficiency does not necessarily translate into effectiveness as I discovered when I got home: once my hair was completely dry, the layers were inconsolably choppy and unfinished. Nonetheless, I thought I'd give it a day. The real test of a good cut comes after you wash it yourself and let it dry naturally...
To be honest I was really hoping to be wrong (perhaps I was being over-sensitive). Unfortunately, when the final "shape" (or lack thereof) emerged, I was devastated - the cut is officially awful! Even one of my guy friends (who normally shaves his head) was able to comment that I could've had it cut by a student hairdresser.
So I called and left a message with the salon and am hoping to have it fixed...although now I'm scared because I don't even know how capable they are of doing so. I would be more tempted to get it fixed elsewhere had I not already spent $75 on this nightmare. I hope they will give me a refund.
Evoke did call me back and were welcome about having me back to fix the problem. Unfortunately my schedule has made it difficult for me to find the time to go back. As it happened, I've come to accept that my haircut is not so awful but just average. Oh well. Next time I'm going to spend $75, I'm going back to Toni & Guy.
This is by far the best salon I have ever been to. Everyone was so nice, they always made sure that I had a drink and that I was comfortable. I have never been to a saoln like this. I love it, my hair has never looked so good. Thanks Evoke
