Ezra's Pound says they are the greenest most environmentally responsible cafe in the city. The milk is organic from grass eating cows (are there other kinds?), the sugar is organic, fair traded and unrefined, the packaging is biodegradable or recyclable and they only produce 1 bag of garbage per week (everything else is recycled or composted). 95% of the menu is organic and everything is made from scratch. Coffee is roasted on and off site, organic, fair trade, bird-friendly (not sure what that means) and rainforest alliance.

You've got to admire that kind of commitment to doing the right thing. For those reasons alone I liked the cafe before I'd even tried anything. I ordered a latte and a chocolate croissant. The latte, though they didn't have lactose free milk, was delicious and didn't upset my stomach. The croissant was really tiny for $3 and was a bit on the crunchy side, but it was still yummy.

Ezra's Pound has two locations, with the second at 238 Dupont St. The ambiance is cozy with a community vibe. I imagine this is popular with the locals. When we left, someone chased after us to ask if we had paid our bill. We had. Awkward! Aside from that, I thought the cafe was great and I'll definitely be back.
