For The Love Of Cake is a cute little shop in this hidden alley in the Liberty Village neighbourhood of Toronto. I first heard of it back in 2011 when I saw a Groupon for Cakeballs and bought that for my birthday. On my birthday, I trekked down there to redeem it. It turns out they aren’t open Mondays (which was plain to see on their website if I had looked) so I had to go to Metro and buy a cake to celebrate my birthday. The Groupon expired 6 months later and I never really thought about if after that.


THE SERVICE

Fast forward over two years to yesterday when my friend and I were having a nice walk in the area. She mentioned that she heard there was a great cupcake place around there and I thought of my Groupon. I joked that I should ask about it and she said “Yea, you should”. Once we were inside I jokingly mentioned it to the person serving us and he said “Sure, we will give you the value you paid for it”. SOLD! I looked up the Groupon on my phone and he easily redeemed it for me. I told my friend to pick out a few for her and her husband and I grabbed a few.

I was SO impressed that he didn’t give me any grief about redeeming them. Although it is the law to redeem the vouchers for the value you paid for them (not the promotional value advertised), many retailers won’t honour them. I’ve had a very bad experience with a spa and will be writing about that shortly.


THE CUPCAKES

Now on to the cupcakes. In short, they were AMAZING! My friend, her husband and I all agree that they were moist and delicious with unique flavours. I had Chocolate Raspberry, Chocolate Peanut Butter Banana and Rocky Road. They were all great, even the next day (I saved one). If you are ever in Liberty Village, check out For The Love Of Cake, they are the whole package with wonderful customer service and awesome cupcakes.

For the Love of Cake is nestled in the new and bustling busy new area in Liberty Village! It's well worth a trip to this cup-cakery to try out all their delicious flavours! All of them are fabulous and not one will disappoint! They have some interested flavours such as the Guinness Chocolate and Maple Bacon, but my personal faves are the Lemon Meringue and Rocky Road!! Priced at about $2.50 each, they are worth every penny!! Friendly staff, great cupcakes, what more can you ask for!? :)
