Future Shop has great customer service there's always someone available if you need help with something
I actually got my laptop from Future Shop and the employee who helped me find one was super friendly and helped me find the best one for me!
I never really had a problem with the future shop where I live. I've been there a few times and bought a few things. Over all not a such a bad store.
What do you think, have you been there?
The good: great selection on dvd's, electronics and accessories and these people know their stuff. They can typically answer any questions about an item you may have. Very clean and organized.
The Bad: You can tell from the second you step foot into any Future Shop that you are being HOUNDED by commissioned sales rep's. They follow you around and hunt you down like a lion stalking a zebra. They never give you the oppourtunity to just look around or check things out. After you shake one off there is another one on the way! The prices are usually quite high, you can get the identical products at several other retailers and just know you can get a better deal.
You know what I find weird about Future Shop? It is owned by the same company is Best Buy except they get commissions at Future Shop...I guess that is why they harass you more when you go in! Anyway, here is the thing, I have bought 4 things from Future shop since I moved to Toronto...my TV, my cordless phone, a router and a DVD player. The TV broke 4 times in the 6 years that I had it. Finally two days ago it blew while I was sleeping...I heard a pop and a sizzle while I was sleeping and it was not even on at the time. At first I thought it was the outlet but everything else is fine so nope...it is the TV. My cordless phone stopped working within 5 months and it was under some warranty thing so they gave me a new one...no problems (fingers crossed) with that since. The DVD player would not play DVDs. I returned it...by this point in time they knew me and were profusely apologizing for the bad luck I had with their stuff. Finally the router...it works (fingers crossed). So, as I was saying my TV blew on the night of Feb 1. The LAST place I would buy a TV is future shop. Alternatively I have had no problems with Best Buy so when I have the funds that is where my TV will be coming from. I don't get how two companies owned by the same parent company can be so polar opposite. The staff at Future Shop can also be very patronizing if you are looking at buying stuff like a home surround sound system and you go into the store by yourself...it's all about the upsell. Anyway, avoid Future Shop, try Best Buy. Maybe after they realize people don't like the way the Future Shop stuff is being run they will bring them up to Best Buy standards or better yet just get rid of Future Shop all together!
I totally agree with lath0013. Future Shop is not a good place to shop for electronics! I think the worst thing is the exchange/return policy. For such a large company, you would think that they are more lenient with it. But if you have a gift receipt from a gift past due, they will not give you a refund. They wil give you a store credit and that expires in a month! And to even get that is a struggle, you have to talk to the manager for hours and work something out. Best Buy it uuupp!
I hate Future Shop. The sales people either annoy you until you walk out or ignore you like you're garbage. Also, their merchandise is usually way overpriced compared to most other stores. I would only come here if I really needed to get something (example buying a birthday gift and they are the only ones with what I need in stock). It's a last resort in my books.
