I have purchased many Groupons in the past and really enjoyed the savings I was receiving and liked how easy it was to use at the places I purchased them for.
I have not looked at the website in a long time, as I unsubscribed to their e-mails as they were getting too frequent. I also find there are barely any local offerings on Groupon anymore, which is disappointing - it's mostly things you can get online only or travel deals that I will never use. Bummer - it was great when it was for local restaurants, etc.
I have purchased a couple groupons and I have discovered why they are selling their product/service at a discount. Most that I have redeemed I have had to fight to get an appointment. Other times the services were either in super awkward locations or just overall terrible service. The restaurant Groupons have been the best purchases I have made. I like to try new places, so why not at a discounted price. But... redeem quickly. Groupon seems to be the last attempt to keep the business afloat. I went to use one of mine close to the expiry date and the restaurant was closed.
I have to agree about the fact they have great opportunity about locals activities, but they have a horrible customer service: I've bought for a store that finally close just after the offer. 4 months to get the refund.....
Some great deals to be had! Used it a few times for restaurants and a hotel. Good prices and the policies are good too! i.e you have protection if the business wont honer the coupon
