Holly treatment.
I went to this salon today to get my hair treatment for $30(at least thats what the brunette recepcionist told me so). So, a tall male in black came to greet me.. and washed my hair (by pulling my scalp really hadrd without shampooing) I swear I tHINK I LOST NEARLY HALF OF MY HAIR FROM THAT WASHING TREATMENT... it doesnt stop there.. this man put a light condiioner in my hair and wrap it in a plastic bag.
He let me sit for ONE HOUR AND THIRTY-SEVEN MINUTES because he was doing some other girl's hair. (wow, very profesisonal!)
and finally he remembered me adn ask someone else to wash my hair.
After that, he tried to blow dry my hair by asking me to bend my head down for THIRTY MINUTES because he was too lazy to pull dpwn the chair.
In this blow drying section, he almost burn my scalp - AND YES, NO APOLOGIES OR REMORSE FEELING AT ALL. .. on top of that, he charge me $57
He also blame me for having too much hair and for coloring my hair cream.
SO YAH, if you want to get riped off and burnt hair scalp please come here, ask for this specific man. I BET $50 YOU WONT FIND ANY WORST SALON IN THIS TOWN BUT HAIR BANANAS.

Worst experience! I went in to have reverse highlights put into my long blonde hair. The hairdresser had absolutely NO idea of what she was even doing. First she put in the wrong colour of filler... She then stripped it out, without even bothering to put in any type of conditioner afterwards! She then proceeded to make me look like a calico cat. The haircut she gave me looked like a 3 year old child did it. She then had the nerve to charge me $180.00 for this fiasco! My hair is now completely fried. I had to have quite alot of it cut off and it will take a few years to get all this completely unnecessary damage out of it. They need to hire competent stylists here if they want to charge these kinds of prices for their services. I would NOT recommend this hair salon to anyone.
Went there last week-end hoping to get a change of look but nothing too extravagant. I had a hairstyle in mind and explained it to the "stylist". She was like:" No no, you'd rather not, it will very difficult for me to level it out". I think she was just too lazy to spend some effort on a client's head. I ended up with the same style as before save for a bit of trimming and paid 40 bucks. Then she asked if I wanted it straightned out, I said yes, and after 10 minutes of fiddling around she was like:"all done!". It was horrible, it looked poufed up and frizzy, I had to re do it at home. Ok I have curly, high maintenance hair, but still, hair salons are there for a reason!
I would have done the cut and the straightening out myself and it would have looked 20 times better.
Bottom line: big big disappointment, unconcerned staff, lousy service!
I got a haircut in November at Hair Bananas. It was nice that they allowed me to come in without an appointment, but the stylist left me in the middle of my cut to cut someone else's hair! That's just sub-par. As well, it is easily the worst haircut i've had in a long time. The technique the stylist used "razoring" isn't suited to curly hair at all (rookie mistake), and even when she straightened my hair (using her walmart-esque METAL straightening iron) the cut was not surprisingly unbelieveably bad.
It should be noted that I explained to the stylist what I wanted and she talked me out of it-> I won't be fooled again.
I went here after a girl at work told me about. I was feeling all yucky and bored with my regular haircut so i decided to make and appointment. i went in there with an open mind and told my stylist to "do anything you want with 2 conditions long enough to tye back, and i want some bangs" lol and she delivered! i swear it was one of the best hair cuts i have gotten. the receptionist that works there is always super nice and helpful, and the stylist are willing to listen to what you want but will also give you good suggestions on what they think would look good on you.
If you live in Ottawa you know that it's pretty hard to find a hair salon that isn't going to cost half your paycheck and still does a great job. My friend suggested Hair Bananas (in the Rideau Centre) to me and I really enjoy it! Other places that I have been to have not come off so well.
One hair cut I had at another Rideau Centre hair salon ended up growing into a mullet! Not cool at all! This place makes me feel great and gives me a fresh feeling and I can't wait to go back a third time. I've had two stylists and out of the two, I'd say Roxanne is the best. She gave me a grown-up stylish new cut that I fell in love with!
UPDATE: over the past couple of years, it has been a love/hate relationship with Hair Bananas. It really depends on who you get there. The busier the day, the worse the cut in my opinion. I was really surprised that I found myself hating some hair cuts after walking out. Some people do not know how to use scissors! I still go, because I do get a good cut from the majority of people there, and it is one of the cheaper places I have found in Ottawa to get your hair done.
