I really enjoy going to Hey Lucy!! They have a location on King Street as well as another location that opened near Bloor and Bathurst a few years ago. Hey Lucy always makes me reminisce of when I went to university in downtown Toronto and would frequent Hey Lucy for martinis with my girl friends!
I have enjoyed both the beverages and food at both locations! The martinis are delicious, especially the caramel apple and jolly rancher. I also enjoy their food! I have ordered delicious sweet potato fries, decadent maccaroni and cheese and delicious grilled sandwiches! Great to visit for drinks or food!
My only improvement would be to lower the price of the martinis. They have Martini Wednesday, where the drinks are under $5, but on average, their martinis (with tax not gratuity) are around $12! Terribly overpriced, although delicious!
I met Lauren (laur0406) here yesterday for lunch! We went upstairs and sat on the rooftop patio which was empty (?) minus a pair of suits!
Hey Lucy has a great lunch special....it's a personal size wood-fired pizza with your choice of sauce, 2 toppings, and a choice of salad or fries for $9.99. What a deal! The pizza was delicious-I had Italian sausage and portabello mushrooms on mine. The presentation was clever too....they split the pizza down the middle and put your salad greens in between. Lovely!
Anyhoo, I don't know why the place was empty-the food is great, the patio is delightful and the price is right!
I shall return....I have heard good things about the Martini Wednesdays ($3.99 for martinis)!
Haven't been to this place in a while so i thought i would stop in Friday night with a few of my girlfriends and WOW. It's a totally different place, not only is it reno'd but the service is actually really good!
We split a couple pizzas and had a few drinks, the food was great.
I'm glad i gave this place another shot. They have truly done a 180. Worth checking out. Can't wait till the patio opens again
Hey Lucy seems to have stuck around for a long time with its kitschy decor and cheap martinis on Wednesday nights. But I'd suggest skipping it all together. I used to go after work because it was the place people from that office just always went, but a few of us got to talking one day and all of us agreed it was really not a place that any of us liked! The cheap martinis are ok for a deal but a little watery, and the food is pretty blah, the 'wood fired' pizza that is supposed to be so good is pretty gross, I had a calzone once that was awful, and the only thing I really liked was the spring rolls, but they are the same almost anywhere. The washrooms are kind of gross, and I'm pretty sure the last time I used them I ended up standing next to an "unsavory character" waiting to wash my hands... I'd suggest you spend your money elsewhere since there are plenty of other little resto bars in the King West strip to try out.
I've been to Hey Lucy about 3-4 times over the past 4 years. It's in a good location, but that's about it. They do have a long list of good martini's, but they're $12 each so not so good in the end. I heard last time I was there it's under new management (late 2008), so I hope they make some well needed improvements such as new seating, decor and updated menu. The quality of the food is just okay - I could make something at home for much cheaper and it would taste better. I've found service to be hit or miss depending on who you get. Overall, not a place I would recommend unless you're fine with spending $12 per drink.
They have a fantastic dessert menu and tons of really fun drinks, it is a great place to start off your night because it is within walking distance to all the clubs. The patio is great in the summer too!
It is a fun little place to get something to eat, however it is very hit or miss. The service can sometimes be rather slow especially when it comes to drink orders. It has a nice area to accomadate a large group and they do have a really nice outdoor patio. They prices weren't too bad and the portions were fairly genourous.
