One of the best sushi restaurants I've had in Toronto.
We came here for lunch and I was prepared to order a spicy salmon roll, a california roll, and dynamite roll. When the waitress heard my request, she pointed out the special maki roll combo that contained all three, except the spicy salmon roll was listed as spicy tuna roll. So I agreed to order this.
When the food came, I was pleasantly surprised that she had switched the spicy tuna as part of the combo to my original request of spicy salmon! Bonus points!
Food - excellent texture and flavour. Rice on the sushi was definitely sushi grade rice (as alot of sushi places serve mushy rice that's drenched in vinegar). The spicy salmon sashimi was fresh and there was a generous amount in each roll.
This past Christmas we were at the Yonge and Eglinton location. They had great service and the food was tasty. They only had two high chair in the restaurant so be prepare in case you don't get one. We were seated at the very back of the restaurant and I think they need to turn up the heat, it was very chilly there.
I love this place. i went there with my cousins. We were six people and the service was great. I took the bento with chicken teriyaki. The bento was big. The food was really good. My favorite was the tempura. I recommend this place.
I absolutely LOVE this place. As an asian food lover, and a university student, this is the best restaurant in town. You get a lot of bang for your buck and it is Delicious!!! My boyfriend and I usually get the Bento Box with the Spicy beef bulgogi (I recommend this!). It also comes with steamed rice, tempura veggies and shrimp, a california roll, miso soup, salad, kimchi, and a few other things. All of this for 13$ (for dinner).
The service is pretty good. Do not expect too much from the ambience, but as long as you go with good people- who cares?
I would absolutely recommend this place!
Good food, I wouldn't say it was amazing or even my favorite (see Hockey Sushi). What I absolutely have to say is that they have absolutely fantastic service. I was in there with a group of 20 and the service was seamless. Beyond the price and taste, that was the strongest impression I got.
I think the food at Ho Su is generally good. I think their price/quality is above average depending on what you order there. Personally I enjoy the Bento Box with your choice of Salmon, Chicken or Beef Terayaki, California roll, 9 piece sashumi and the most important tempura. Well it is their 15.95 box but it fills me up. I would say that the only reason i always go back to the restaurant is their Shrimp Tempura. They are not bad. I am satisfied whenver i go there.
I love HoSu Bistro - Korean & Japanese Cuisine Restaurant at 254 Queen Street West (at John Street)! A bento box lunch special for one person comes out to under $10 with tax and tip! Miso soup and tea also included! What can I say? I'm a cheap date. The only problem is that I prefer not to each rice at lunch because I have it every night at dinner.
One thing that always surprises me about this place is how much food you get for the money. Being a poor student, that really comes in handy. I used to work in the Yonge/Eglinton area, and found that if I ordered one of the combo plates (i.e. with soup, salad, tofu, vegetables, sushi, rice, etc.) that there would be enough food to last me for two meals - all for under $10!
Ho Su is definitely a must visit.
