How I came to own 'Joy Couture' clothing:
I was invited to participate in what I was told was a fashion show for Joy Couture. I went in for a fitting with one of her assistants (which was incredibly awkward and unprofessional) and was instructed when and where to show up.

When I arrived, the models were then informed that we would just have some photos taken by an amateur photographer, and have to dance around in the club with the dresses on for a little while. I wasn't even wearing the dress I was fitted in, and a couple models were having to scramble into random ill-fitting dresses. What!?! But this was all fine, as I was handed a $600 gift certificate afterward.

My experience purchasing 'Joy Couture' clothing:
The assistant told me at the "show" that I could buy the ill-fitting dress they threw me in last minute for $500 OR that I could select something online off of Joy's facebook OR I could go into her studio to select something. After a month of trying to pick things online with little to no response from the designer, I scheduled a time the next Friday when I could go in to pick something out as I lived out of town. When I arrived, no one was there. I contacted the assistant I had previously been in contact with, and she told me no one would be there until Monday. Awesome.

I set up another date, (and I may have been slightly impatient with Joy, I will admit) and when I arrived on that day, she was there, but extremely rude and dismissive. I picked out a yoga outfit and a cute dress and was on my way.

My experience with the clothing itself:
I have not yet worn the dress, but it looks cute and well constructed (we will see how it turns out). The yoga outfit, well, I can't say it's not well made, but I can say it was not made by Joy. I washed the pants today, and her logo FELL OFF the pants and ANOTHER LOGO was underneath. Really?!?!?! What a great designer.

Needless to say, I will NEVER be purchasing from Joy in the future, or working with her designs if future events come up. I didn't even pay $600 for the things I now own, and I'm still livid. I feel bad for girls who have lost money on a fraudulent, disorganized, and rude designer.

Joy Hu's slogan for her clothing company is "Couture Dresses without Couture Prices". While the designs at first glance are quite fashionable, the quality is where her company loses merit.

From a client's perspective who has purchased a dress from Joy in the past, I would not recommend her to anyone. The dress (like many of them) that she sold me was of poor quality and cut, and fell apart quickly. As a matter of fact, it was within a few hours. Even still, the dresses still retail for around $85-$400 and are all made in China. Joy is determined to earn profit regardless; and does not care about the satisfaction of her customers.

As a model who has also taken part in her show, I can tell you that she charges models money to BE in her fashion show. She says that her "compensation" for working for her is the dress modeled at a discounted price. But this does not make any sense to me. Shouldn't she be paying models to walk for her instead, not other way around? It goes to show you how little integrity her company runs on - and it's just not right.

There are plenty of dress designers and shops in the city with far more beautiful dresses and are of better quality. Ladies, I highly, highly suggest you look elsewhere.
