Do not shop at this store!! They are literally THIEVES
On Sept. 6th, I made a very unwise purchase following an appointment at my oncologist's office. It was an emotional decision that I made in the moment due to my state of mind.
Upon returning home (3 hours away) I realized this was a bad decision. I was in the middle of chemotherapy and unable to drive back to Toronto so I mailed the hat back to the store-never worn and in the original packaging.
I included a very nice letter explaining my situation but unfortunately left off contact info. (Chemo brain?).
Today, I called Karen, the store owner, because I had not received the refund of $271.20. She told be that because it was not within 30 days, she would not refund the money OR issue me a credit for the store. She acknowledged she did receive the hat on October 2, 2017. My tracking number indicated that it was delivered on September 29, 2017. BOTH DATES ARE WITHIN 30 DAYS.
KAREN NOW HAS MY HAT AND MY $271.20 AND PLANS ON KEEPING BOTH
She was kind enough to call me back (sarcasm) and YELL at me because I accused her of theft AND to tell me I needed to take responsibility for my purchase. I was so upset with her tone and rudeness I hung up, not wanting to subject myself to her toxic and aggressive behaviour because of my health situation.
What kind of shop owner would keep a customer's money and property when I explained that it was not something I could afford and made impulsively in an upset state of mind? This is theft and I plan on following up with the next step.
I am taking "responsibility" for my purchase and I understand the return policy BUT are there not times and situations that would warrant an exception with a bit of common decency and humanity?
Do not expect kindness, compassion or professionalism from Karen at this store!!
This probably one of the BEST hat stores that I have ever been too! (and i've been to a lot of hat stores). I usually find that hat stores lack variety and originality. Maybe it's because not alot of people wear hats so stores have to play it safe with the mechandise they carry. I usually find that the styles are unoriginal and old/conservative but not this store! The selection is huge and the hats are beautiful! The hats are current, trendy, modern, refreshing, classic and sophisticated.
The hats are more expensive then what you'd find at a chain/department store but I don't buy hats all the time and the one I bought from this store has gone a long way. I can wear it in summer and winter and it's a neutral color that goes with everything. Definitely worth the investiment.
All the hats are handmade and they also have a machine that can stretch out the hats so it fits your head perfectly. This store has such a variety of fabrics, textures, styles and details that it's the first place I go to when I'm hat shopping.
Very Sex n' the City! Remember when Sarah Jessica Parker had that fabulous decore to her wedding dress to make her just pop.. well that is the kind of hair accessories and hats you will find at this store. You can tell there is love put in ever hat.
This was a very adorable store! I loved all the vintage style hats. They are hand crafted in store. I wanted to buy every single one, especially now that vintage style hats are coming back in style. Since they are hand made though, they are a bit pricey. Average price for a hat is $150. I'm definitely going to be saving my pennies and going back for one though.
I must admit, I was very sceptical about this store when I seen it on the list for the Shop Crawl. Only because I never look good in hats!! :( But Lilliput has opened my eyes! I actually really liked this one fedora they had. It fit well and looked very cute! Unfortunately my long-time angst with hats prevented me from committing to it, and I think I regret not buying it! But I can't be sure that I'd have the courage to wear it anywhere!
The store was full of great little hats of all shapes and sizes! The service was great and it was really cool to see the work tables where they make some of their own hats! I found the prices more than reasonable for the quality of the pieces!
If I ever get my courage up, I will go and buy my Fedora! Great choice for the Crawl!
This is possibly one of the coolest places I've ever been in Toronto. It's got the most amazing hats and head pieces (think wedding veil-esk). My good friend bought this beautiful black felt hat with purple flowers on the side. While the prices are expensive (lets face it, handmade designer hats aren't going to be cheap anywhere).. they are also so beautiful and each one is unique so you'll never find yourself out with a group wearing someone else's hat.
This had to be the best store on the shop crawl. It was really fun looking at all the old, funky and original hats. I will definately be going there when dressing for my wedding - the 1920s head pieces were amazing!
I really enjoyed having the chance to browse around Lilliput Hats at the ShopCrawl. They have many beautiful, fashionable hats that handmade and gorgeous.
The only thing that did not work out for me so much was many of the hats were too small for my head. I wish they made hats in bigger sizes. Other than that, this is a great store for hat shopping!
Absolutely beautiful hats. If I am ever invited to tea with the Queen, I am getting a hat from Lilliput Hats. They are little peices of art for your head. The designers are super talented. I found it to be very expensive, but they are the kids of hats you could keep and give to your great grandkids
