Metro online: Be aware of fine letter in the promo codes
I received a promo code of delivery free+ $10 discount with an expiration date. I live only 1km away from my Metro store and despite the delivery fee is more expensive than Voila’s, I decided to make an order to Metro Groceries online when the promo code was still valid, and applied to my orden. The delivery was done 2 days later, so my final receipt was not incluying the $21.99 discount approved when the order was done. As per Metro customer services, promo codes are applied the date of the delivery not when the order is done, so if you like to order one week ahead your groceries, be aware you will never get any promo discount applied.
BUYER BEWARE METRO.CA DISHONEST PRICING
Have been a loyal customer at Metro for many years -it's close and I like the fresh products. For my second online order yesterday from Metro.ca the total was $50.21 with delivery next day. When I received a delivery confirmation email the next day I noticed that the total cost had increased to $61.68. That's a $11.47 increase -no explanation.
When I called Metro Customer Service for an explanation I was told that the cost of the items on sale no longer applied because the sale items expired on delivery day. I find this very disingenuous. If I bought items on sale at grocerygateway.com, walmart.ca/en/grocery and delivery was several days later the items on sale are honored -delivery should not affect the sale price. In fact if I purchased a TV on sale from bestbuy.ca for $1,500 ($1K discount) and the delivery was a 2 days later Best Buy doesn't jack up the price to regular price of $2,500 because the sale ended on delivery day.
I find that Loblaws and GroceryGateway products are just as fresh as Metro's -if not fresher. Going forward online orders for my household will be purchased at www.loblaws.ca and www.grocerygateway.com. Beware of Metro.ca sales practices. After this experience I'm now an ex-customer and don't recommend this business.
The closest Metro store to my house is about 20 minutes away, so I don't go there often. However, every 2 or 3 months I drive out of my way to buy the bread they carry. Their bakery is the best of all the grocery stores. The variety is terrific.
We have 3 here in Thunder Bay. I tend to always go to the smallest one. They always have great meats. Their sales make it even better and a great time to stock up. The shelves are always stocked. Just wish they had more cashiers opened.
The food items can be expensive, especially the grocery items like produce and meat and such. But, they have great sales on canned foods, junk foods and cooking products like pans and spoons.1
Metro Grocery Store is in KY opinion way over priced. Some items such as their snack foods are often double the price of other stores. Although they have everything you need I have stopped shopping there on a regular basis. I also don't understand why they don't price match...another reason I don't shop there anymore. The only time I will shop there is if I have no other choice or if it's after hours as there are many Metro locations that are open 24x7.
The metros in the town I live in and the town adjacent are strategically placed so that poorer families have no choice but to shop there and pay their ridiculously high prices. One is situated between the rich gated communitiy and the public funded family housing units. The rich people in the gated communities shop there because they don't care about prices, and the poor people have no choice but to go there if the buses aren't running or they need something in an emergency. Sometimes the prices can be as much as doubled in comparison to other grocery stores in town yet with no higher quality product. They even have the audacity to refuse price matching.
Good quality food and service but the prices are way too high. Even in sale, it's more expensive than regular price in other groceries.
