I realized how much money i wasted when i found out through a friend the cakes come from Loblaws. Boo. Make your own stuff Oh So Good!
Oh So Good deserves the it's name - everytime i go i try a new cake and i always am please with what i get. Anyone with a sweet tooth will love it there!
I was here this weekend for a piece of cake. For 4 people to have a coffee of some sort and a piece of cake it was about $45. While the deserts and drinks were delicious, the ambiance was seriously lacking.
The floors are extremely weathered and rough-looking like you'd find in an old pub where people throw peanut shells on the floor. The music was all over the place and didn't really fit the mood. One minute it was hard rock, the next minute it was top 40 and it was really loud. Also, they don't bring the cake to you, you have to go and pick it up from the counter. That part wasn't such a big deal, but I thought it was wierd to see the staff eating cake behind the counter the whole time we were there, licking their fingers and everything.
If they remodel the cafe at some point, I recommend you check it out for the sake of the deserts (I think they are dufflet pastries). If not, don't bother since there is a much cuter place down the street that we saw afterwards, though I can't remember the name of it. I'm really picky about cafes. For me to really like it, they have to have good ambiance (cozy and/or funky), great service, and really good espresso. Having Lactose free milk (no, not soy) available is a huge plus too - but these guys didn't have it.
If your tired of borin old coffee shops and looking for an "oh so good" place to bring a date, this place is for you. whenever me and a date go there we always share one of their chocolate desserts. (i usually opt for the white chocolate mousse cake). the stmosphere is pretty swanky, the people behind the counter are always willing to give helpful hints on which slice of cake you should get:)
This is truly one of Ottawa's "best kept secrets"! It's such a great hideaway in downtown Ottawa. 25 York Street is where you'll find this amazing little hidey-hole of chocolate goodness. A great place to go any time, any day- wheather you've had a horrible day, or youi're celebrating, or just feel like eating dessert for a meal lol. It's honestly one of my favourite places in Ottawa and I hope it never closes. Everyone should go. I get something different every time I go, it's great! This is truly a chocolate lover's dream.
