Great experience! She did a great job. I was thrilled with the results (I even went for a walk to strut afterwards lol). Also, although I know this is not advisable and typically frowned upon I brought my baby and Kim was so nice about it praising him and helping me with him. 10/10 experience all around.
I feel fortunate to have avoided meeting Kim. First of all, she calls herself the business owner, but really, with three different addresses in less than two years, she is renting a chair. Try to make an appointment. Email that is not answered, no voice mail, no call back.
I had to contact Groupon to mediate. They said she is open and honoring the Groupon.
I finally heard from her, she said my email was in spam. Today, I received a rude message from her telling me to "take my little Groupon and get my money back". I already had my refund from Groupon.
A girlfriend also had a terrible experience with this hairstylist, from multiple attempts to make an appointment, to rudeness at the appointment. Same deal as read in other reviews with claims of her "services" costing $500.00.
Hmmm.
Not worth the trouble.
Funny how the recos for this salon went from utterly fabulous to horrid, sounds like someone is trying to sabotage a woman who is incredibly talented and gives fantastic service. Now the salon is in Yorkville, so compared to her neighbours she is INSANELY less, but for those that are regular grouponers, get ready to dig a bit deeper in your wallet, but the quality is worth it 100 TIMES over! Kim has been doing my hair for over 1 year and I have been a brunette, blonde, and just turned redhead. The woman KNOWS her colour and cuts! Do not walk - RUN to Oskar on Scollard!
Worst cut/colour/style and experience I've ever had, I had purchased a Groupon and had asked to have my hair done as closely as possible to the picture on the right. I was willing to spend however much plus the Groupon, yet the Groupon covered the cut, style and partial highlights (there was no cut) she (Kim, the owner) picked at my hair and trimmed random parts. She had told me it would be a balayage and ombre, she began to drench my hair in bleach and quite literally flinged it at the top of my hair not spending more than 10 minutes. My hair looks horrible! There is bleach in the most random places. I thought this was prep for what was to come as she left me for an hour and change. The assistant was quite friendly and had engaged in plenty conversation throughout the wash. After an hour and half of waiting, she tells me that this is the final product, half blow dries my hair and sends me off with my ends fried and no product. Kim is unprofessional, and it is quite pathetic that she is providing customers with Groupons for horrible service. I was pretty excited for my cut and colour only to be left with the remnants of my fried and dried ends. After spending 2 hours plus in the salon she had only spent a mere 40 minutes, maybe less, on my hair. I'm thoroughly disappointed and will never recommend anyone to the Oskar on Scollard. I left feeling terrible, don't ever mess with a woman's hair and heart.
horrible horrible ... '' Pregnant fake ..cuzza drugs booze insecurity losesl job tanya ....stay sober ...week off party and lying bye ''
this is what the owner on oskar on scollard postes on social media .. this is what she does to her staff do you really want to get your hair done with her?
from a staff of 12 to a staff of 2...
Absolutely the worst haircut I have ever had in my life by Kim (shockingly the owner) at Oskar on Skollard. I am not one to blast people on social media or cry about a haircut, but I left in tears, anger and had to run to the nearest Shoppers for product and a public bathroom to fix the disaster that I left the salon with. I know that to Oskar on Skollard it was only a Groupon voucher, but it is my hair and I did pay for a cut, colour and style. The owner Kim introduced herself and let me know immediately that it would normally cost $500.00 for her services. Also, that she bought the business two years ago and is trying to draw in a different kind of clientele apart from the Yorkville crowd.
Colour: Although I asked repeatedly that the colour not be red, it is now a black and plum colour nonetheless, and the fact that Kim asked numerous members of her staff around her “it’s not red, right?”, did not help me.
The Cut: Butchery. Every time I heard that razor blade against my curly hair and bangs, my heart sunk. I also had to ask her repeatedly to cut my bangs, which are now unmanageable.
Style: Even though my voucher included a styling (usually this would involve a blow out and hair straightening at any other salon, groupon or not), I was told by Kim that she had “no time.” When her next appointment was late, she said I was “lucky” and that she would style my hair. This included blow drying my curly hair into a frizzy mess, a little bit of flat ironing and a lot of flattening my hair to my head with the palms of her hands. When I asked if I could please use her straightener to straighten my bangs a little more because (like the rest of my head) it was too fluffy, she said to go ahead as she was “done with me.” To add insult to injury, without any previous warning I was charged an ADDITIONAL $40.00 at the register because I had “more hair.” I was absolutely appalled. I paid it and walked out disgusted (and with my hair looking a lot like present-day Gene Simmons). If Kim wanted all of her clients to have thin, straight hair that she could cut in five minutes like she cut for my friend (see below), she should stipulate that on Groupon as well as the Oskar site.
Kim did not even bother to brush the cut hairs off of my face, which my friend had to do for me once we were outside. Hands down the worst hair experience I have ever had and although “Oskar on Skollard” may have a good reputation from their past, I don’t believe Kim has done their name justice.
My friend also had the same Groupon cut, colour, style voucher as I did. Kim was done with her in literally (am I mean literally) five minutes. She sat my friend down, told her that she did not need colour, told her that she cut on dry hair, used a razor on a few chunks of my friends hair and called it a day. No colour, no cut, no style and amazingly my friend’s hair actually looked worse than when she arrived.
WE are her business cards so to speak and the fact that she could let us walk out of her salon looking like we did is shocking.
Her staff are lovely and I do believe that they, as well as the aesthetic of the salon, are a credit to the name, but do yourself a favour, and do not book anything with Kim. But if you do, prepare to not get what you ask for and to pay an additional $40.00 if your hair is not straight and lanky.
Got my hair cut, colour corrected and highlighted at Oskar on Scollard by Kim. Even though she worked on multiple people at once, I still really love the final result. I only asked for a trim and she listened and tidied up my layers. The colour correction was added in free and the highlights came out great. I used a groupon but was not treated like a groupon client. Would definitely recommend this salon!
Wauw, i really love this hair salon. Great atmosphere and finally hair dressers that actually know what they are talking about. I left my hair colour and -cut totally up to them, and it turned out really well. Thanks!
Another happy customer of this salon. Kim (owner) did my hair and I love it! My hair now looks sexy. She said she's gonna charge me extra for the "sexy" factor (LOL just kidding)!!! Overall, I will definitely be going back to Oskar on Scollard! By the way, the free capuccino was great too :)
Kim cut and coloured my hair for the first time yesterday and I love it! She chose complimentary colours and cut my hair to frame my face with leaving the length. Everyone I spoke with at the salon was friendly and accommodating - from the cappuccino on arrival to the check out procedure was excellent. I will definitely be back to see Kim.
