100% OF CHICKS DIG IT
Donna at the Red Shoes Salon has been cutting my hair for a couple years and I could not be more pleased. In fact, I only live near her salon for a couple month out of the year, but I still wait until I am in town to get my hair cut! She hits the holy trifecta of a great cut, great price, and great experience.
When it comes to your hair cut, she is very open to your input but also honest about what she thinks would be best. I have made a few major hair decisions with her, such as getting bangs and going short, and both times I felt like we talked it through thoroughly and then she took the best approach that we had both agreed on. Since its a small salon in a small town, don't expect a big city experience- her services are very striped down and simple (i.e. she doesn't wash your hair or put in tons of products), but I don't think this affects the quality of the cut at all!
As far as the price, it couldn't get any better! She charges $15 for a basic hair cut and with tip I've never walked out of there paying more than $20! Okay, except for the time I bought a bottle of BioSilk... speaking of which, she carries salon items at prices way cheaper than I've seen them for elsewhere!
Finally, the actual experience of being in her salon is great. The building is adorable and her salon is decorated with beautiful antiques and, of course, red shoes! Her little waiting area is filled with a unique selection of magazines that include all the major news publications as well as literature magazines like The Sun. Her intelligent choices foreshadow what an intelligent woman and wonderful conversationalist Donna is- just about every time I have visited her we have talked politics during my cut. This may not be everyones cup of tea, but I certainly enjoy it!
The Red Shoes Salon is a unique and wonderful experience. In other cities, it's possible to get a great hair cut for a bad price or a bad haircut for a great price- at this salon, you can get a wonderful cut for a wonderful price!
