Ricki's has been better but they still stand up for a few things. They offer up to size 18 and their sizes are generous, so if you're in that dreaded 14/16 area this is a decent store for you. The prices have crept up over the last few years so you do have to shop carefully to get good value. Suppliers vary so sometimes you get amazing quality and other times you are not so fortunate. Their points program has almost diminished to the point of uselessness, although they oddly the defend it unabashedly, i assume because it gives them a lot of information about your shopping habits, but where as in the past you would get an invite to a 25% off new fashions at the top of every season, you now occasionally get a few more points off a sale.
What Ricki's does well is offer business casual year to year. They always have knit separates, inexpensive suits, sweaters, skirts, outerwear, and polyester 'dress' pants. The occasionally have purses (they're not very good), jewellery, hit and miss, and seasonal items such as sunglasses, scarves and mittens, etc.
What Ricki's does poorly is variation. It's always very similar. They do not seem to be able to make a good cotton pant and I personally find their polyester quite thin (hot in the summer, cold in the winter). The other issue is their locations, based primarily in smaller markets and the outskirts of Toronto. While they do have a good website to shop from, they do not offer free shipping for any amount and you have to pay to return things unless you return to stores.
I've shopped at Ricki's for years and often, now during sales. The quality of items are hit and miss, but overall it is still a go to for me.
I have found that over the past year Ricki's is the go to store for me. I can find casual to dressy clothes that won't break the bank. They also have alot of online sales.
