I went here a few times and in the beginning they are very nice, however as you go more often they become more and more comfortable with product pushing. I had Soroush as a stylist and at first he was fine, but then it becomes very obvious they want to make money and kick you out the door. One time I was at the cash paying and my stylist was hovering around the cash to see if I had purchased the products he suggested to me, and it made me feel extremely awkward. I would say if anyone goes please APPROACH WITH CAUTION, they sucker you in by being "nice".
The only thing Yorkville about this salon is the address. Everything else is below par. The salon itself is old and tired looking. If the outcome was great that would be fine. I got a color and cut done and the color was awful. I honestly had people asking me what happened...I will never return. As an aside, when you leave they give you coupons to refer your friends and both of you save $15. A referral is something you have to earn. And, I don't want to waste 4 hours and get burnt, ugly hair for $15 savings. I want a good job - so I went elsewhere, and got it.
I recently had the opportunity to stop in Salon Escape for a cut courtesy of owner Robert Barbosa.
My hair was, shall we say, not in top form. A busy mom like myself not only gets her hair cut on the cheap and irregularly, but wears it in a permanent pony tail (even when wet - a mortal sin, I have since learned). Robert had his work cut out for him.
He took one look at my hair and immediately diagnosed everything from the ponytail trauma to my mild anemia. I was sent over to the washing station where my locks were treated to an intensive moisturizing treatment with olive and avocado oils.
When asked how I'd like my hair cut that day, I simply requested that the length remain more or less the same and the rest of the details were up to him. He explained what he had in mind and why it would work for me, then got to work.
As he snipped away, I asked him every question I could think of: from hair trends to maintenance, from his professional pedigree to the challenges of being an entrepreneur. Not only did he provide informative answers but actually stopped what he was doing to properly hear my questions.
I left Salon Escape a happy beauty editor and a very satisfied customer. Very highly recommended!
