Gorgeous place, friendly management, of course, the food menu is spectacular. Extremely expensive, but I enjoy dining in Yorkville and people watching. I come here over and again, especially when I want to entertain visitors.

Sassafraz is amazing. Granted, I came here quite a few years back, and had the pleasure of being able to order anything I wanted without looking at the price.
The food is amazing! the waiters were just as great. They suggested ordering off the menu for the younger kids, who weren't interested in the more complicated dishes.
I had an appetizer, something similar to a wonton. I dont recall what its name was, but it was by far the tastiest thing I've ever had in my mouth.
Recently, due to time crunches, and lack of funds, I haven't been able to revisit the restaurant on my own. However, back then, I thought how great it would be to go on an intimate date...probably celebrating an anniversary.
    I'm definitely going back!

Sassafraz really blew me away. I came here for brunch recently with a couple of friends. I thought it was going to be all hype and your typical expense account restaurant because it's in the heart of Yorkville and celebrities come here quite often, but I was pleasantly surprised. The brunch is divine, the service is fantastic and the ambiance is so beautiful and relaxing with a live jazz ensemble, the fresh white decor and the greenery towards the back of the restaurant. I have never had a more enjoyable brunch!

It was pricier than other brunch spots I frequent, but not by a lot. If you're used to spending $10 per plate elsewhere, here it is in the $15 - $20 range but you get better food, service and of course the amazing live music. I felt truly pampered. They also don't make you feel rushed. I hate going to places where you stand in line and then eat breakfast with someone's butt in your face as they hover, waiting to take your table when you leave. This was a polar opposite experience to that kind of brunch. I haven't been here for dinner yet but I definitely will now since this was such a great experience.

I highly recommend you check it out!

I call it European food because it is great. We had the fois gras which is seared and topped with a blackberry (I think) sauce.TO DIE FOR.Tuna tartare beyond description- not just the taste but the presentation. All in all good value for the quality they serve. Service a little iffy but OK. Cool live music also
